From the moment we arrived and throughout the four days stay at Villa Victoria we were in complete bliss. The hospitality was gracious but not overbearing. Do you require directions, use of the washing machine, access to kitchen utensils, just ask? The room was a dream. Fireplace with the wood replenished daily, the bed, opulent and large, the bath, spotless and beautifully tiled. Just the breakfast alone was enough to bring us back. Organic coffee from the Chiapas, fresh squeezed juices, a variety of huevos dishes, all served in a room so stunning you have trouble leaving to explore the town and vicinity. Patzcuaro and the surrounding villages deserves much more the few days we wandered about. We look forward to coming back and spending weeks walking and taking combi buses to the numerous sights within striking distance of Patzcuaro.

A truly lovely place to stay to begin to explore a different Mexico away from the routine of Mexican beaches. Many things to see and do. Explore the small town of Santa Clara del Cobre famous for its' copper shops. Amazingly beautiful array of copper pieces (from uniqely designed pots to beautiful jewelery) at prices that were unbelievably affordable according to our Canadian standards. The town of Patzcuaro itself is a wonderful place to wander with many interesting buildings and churches dating back many hundreds of years. Also, many shops to look through with gorgeous textiles and a variety of other items to appeal to many tastes.

The villa itself is beautiful. From the street, the door looks like any other door on the street, but it opens into this gorgeous oasis with an open courtyard with a bubbling fountain and a back garden that has gorgeous vegetation including an avocado tree and many beautiful flowers. Our room is very lovely--artfully decorated everywhere with a gorgeous tiled shower and copper sink. Each room has on-demand hot water heaters so that when the shower tap with "C" (Caliente) is turned on fully, hot water will come quickly. Each room has its' own fireplace, as it does cool down at night and it was nice to have a crackling fire in the room. Each bed also has a cosy mattress warmer to put on prior to bed time, so climbing into bed was a warm pleasure. The breakfasts were delicious--cooked and served by two lovely Mexican ladies. Michael is a charming host, completing the great experience here.

We would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to explore a unique part of Mexico.

It is difficult to imagine a stay that could be much better than our 4 days at Villa Victoria. Our room was well appointed, clean and cozy. Breakfast was delicious and the location is perfect. For every inquiry, we received detailed information on what to see, where to go and what to eat. The private little courtyard steps away from the center of town was charming and comfortable. What a fantastic time we had!

Well-designed, well-decorated, this is an oasis in Patzcuaro. The rooms were perfect -- and the bathrooms even better! Michael, Deb and Cindy were gracious and very helpful.

We booked a room at Villa Victoria, in Patzcuaro, Mexico on the recommendation of a friend who had previously stayed there. But our own experience there surpassed the very high expectations that she had set for us.

The villa itself is really quite wonderful. A newly restored villa, there are 5 bedrooms, each with its own ensuite bathroom, a large common room, kitchen and dining room. It’s perfectly located in central Patzcuaro (which is a wonderful destination in its own right) and had all the amenities we could have wanted. Although the weather was comfortably warm during the day in February, when we were there, it also cools off quite nicely in the evenings and overnight, so the fireplace in our room was a welcome treat, as was the in-floor heating in the bathroom. But it’s the garden and courtyard that were the main attraction for us. Beautifully maintained and somehow incredibly authentic, despite having been newly installed. It was the focal point for us to meet for a glass of wine after a day of touring the neighbourhood or the small towns and artisan villages that are all within an easy drive of Patzcuaro.

The breakfasts (and especially the coffee) were perfectly prepared and the staff are all friendly and knowledgeable. And, perhaps because it is still relatively new, it provided excellent value for the price. We will come to Patzcuaro again soon and will definitely stay at Villa Victoria.

i was very fortunate to be introduced to Villa Victoria and Patzcuaro in October of 2008. Villa Victoria is a wonderful, comfortable haven located near the grande square in Patzcuaro. It is within easy walking distance to local markets, restaurants, churches
and museums. The villa was always a welcome retreat after a busy day. The beautiful gardens were a tranquil setting for afternoon tea. After taking in evening festivities we would come back to our room in the villa and turn on our matress heaters to make our bed toasty. We had the option of joining others in the common room where a fire was often lit in the evenings and mornings to take the chill out of the air, or we could light a fire in our own room. we had scrumptious breakfasts that were a combination of mexican and north american fare.Everyone was able to try out their spanish as the staff were very friendly and accomodating but spoke little English. There were lots of smiles, and sign language as we tried out our "Spanglish" . I have stayed in three different rooms at the villa and they were all very comfortable. All the rooms are very private and they look out towards a magnificent courtyard which has been developed into a gardeners delight with the addition of more plants everytime we have visited! I am looking forward to my next stay at the Villa that i am planning for January 2011. I would recommend Villa Victoria to anyone planning a trip to Patzcuaro, It has a wonderful old world ambience which shouldn't be missed.

I heard about Villa Victoria through a fellow traveler (always the best way to source accommodation). It was everything she said it would be! From the moment I walked through the magnificent wrought iron gate I knew I would be happy. The garden is sublime and the rooms are full of wonderful Mexican Art and Artifacts. Our host, an architect (quelle surprise!) was charming and very knowledgeable about other destinations in the region. Best of all my room was spacious, the bathroom luxurious and I fell asleep every night in a cloud of white, downy bedding, enjoying the crackle and fragrance of wood burning in the fireplace. Sweet dreams!
