“What a gem”

On this, our 2nd visit to Ajijic, we found this gem of a B&B at La Paloma - not just any B&B. I write this sitting in the garden by the lovely pool surrounded by beautiful flowers, songbirds and sunshine. The interior of the building is surrounded by lovely, local artwork and beautiful furniture. The rooms are clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated with nice beds and linens. The B&B is set a few blocks from the main plaza and one block from the Wednesday tiengas. Everything is within easy walking distance, albeit on cobblestones so one needs to be vigilant about their foot placement. But what sets this place apart is our host Carrol who provides a wonderful breakfast each morning with fruits, cereals, and yogurts. This morning we were treated to tamales and a very yummy quiche. Carrol goes above and beyond to make her guests feel welcome which is all the more reason we plan to return soon.

Room Tip: If you will be staying for more than a few days you would want to choose one of the larger rooms - o...

Carrol Flood is a wonderful manager and hostess. She is really helpful!

Easy walking distance to a cyber cafe and to an excellent daytime restaurant. Also an easy walk to La Bodega, a reasonably priced evening restaurant with live entertainment.

We spent one month at La Paloma. It is a bed and breakfast that makes you feel at home. Carrol is warm, friendly and helpful, as well as a font of knowledge about the area, the history, the people,... Although Carrol was on holidays for a week while we were there, Joanne provided us with the same level of service and comfort and stories!!!!! Both of our hosts did everything possible to make our stay enjoyable!!!!!
Staying at La Paloma you will find clean rooms, huge breakfasts, and comfy lounge chairs at the pool!!!! Scottie (the dog) will entertain you with his ball playing antics. Located a short ten minute walk to the main plaza, we were able to walk there a couple of times a day. Local restaurants are many with a wide variety - French, Thai, Indian, Italian, Tapas, Mediterranean, Mexican.... Photo opportunities abound with the local people a favourite subject, followed closely by the colourful homes and buildings!!!!
Without a doubt this is an outstanding B&B - whether for a short or long term stay.

Room Tip: I liked having a room in the back as it was away from the common areas.

Enjoyed my stay at La Paloma. Great food and friendly staff. Plan to stay again next time.I travel to Ajijic. La Paloma had a nice pool and I spent many hours swimming and reading pool side.
I will miss playing with "Scottie" the owners dog.

La Paloma is not the highest luxury spot in Ajijic, but it's probably the best value. Nice sized rooms and a lovely setting make it a good find for the budget-conscious. The clean and inviting pool and sweetly tended garden are nice touches. A plentiful breakfast adds to the pluses of this comfortable spot. Minor drawbacks are no wifi in bedrooms, older tvs in some rooms and tight bathrooms in others. The inn could use some updating, but on the whole, if you need a place to lay your head, feel safe and have access to town and some amenities when you're back from discovering Ajijic, you can't go wrong with this B&B.

Room Tip: Rooms around the courtyard appear to be larger.

I recently stayed at a wonderful B & B in Ajijic, Mexico on beautiful Lake Chapala. It is rare when a hotel or B & B accommodation makes you feel like you are home! But Carroll and Scotty, her Scottish Terrier with a big personality, certainly made me welcome.
The B & B is well located to the lake, the Plaza, and many great restaurants, and Carrol served the best breakfast I have had I years, and every day!!
I stayed there for a week, so this is no one day wonder, I highly recommend you give it a try!!
