“Fantastic room & villa with spectacular view”
Reviewed May 30, 2012

We loved loved loved being here in this villa and this room, the King Casita! We would not think of staying anywhere else on Lake Chapala!

The Villa del Angel is a beautiful and peaceful sanctuary, and we felt so lucky to have found it. This room was exactly what we had wanted for our 5 night stay, in which we were celebrating a friend’s birthday by night, and running along the lake and working in our room by day. The room and the villa far surpassed our expectations. The panoramic view was spectacular, both from our room balcony and the balcony on which breakfast was served. We could see over the whole town of Ajijic and across Lake Chapala. The room was spacious, with lots of shelves and drawers to store things, a very functional kitchen that allowed us to make our own breakfasts and lunches when we needed them, a colorful bathroom with a spacious shower for two, a big table and chairs in the room where two of us could work on our laptops, and a little table and chairs on the spacious balcony where we could have one laptop or eat, a wireless connection that always worked on the balcony and sometimes in the room. There was also a shaded table by the pool with an excellent wireless connection, and we worked there when we were not sunbathing or swimming in the beautiful pool area. We also used the majestic TV room to watch some DVDs we had brought late at night. We loved every minute in our room or in the villa, and could hardly stand to leave during the days or eves.

The 3-4 block walk downhill to the Carreterra (main highway) and then the 3-8 block walk into the center of Ajijic took less than 5 minutes each, and we welcomed the exercise. Good athletic shoes were the best for walking on the cobblestones and broken sidewalks, to and from the villa as well as in town.

Angelique made us feel so welcome, and went out of her way to make us comfortable, like finding a floor heater, a washing machine, more specialized tools for the kitchen, and for providing delicious breakfasts whenever we could attend. She worked around us when she could, and also provided helpful info about where to find what we needed in town.

Room Tip: The King Casitas had it all - spacious, private, and comfortable inside, with a balcony and view! It...

Villa del Angel is a beautiful, boutique accommodation destination in Lake Chapala.
My mother and I stayed here (end of May) and absolutely loved our stay.
Angelique (who runs the B&B) really made our experience oustanding- we arrived very early in the morning without providing any notice and she was so hospitable welcoming us in, making us coffee etc - this type of service goes a long way in my books, especially when you are jetlagged!
Angelique even drove us around trying to find supplies that we needed, organised us a driver, a place to find a doctor etc - I have never received such oustanding service in any of the places I have stayed in Mexico - this goes beyond the typical corporate type hotel.
My mother and I stayed in one of the downstairs apartment which was hugely spacious, had comfortable beds, lovely Mexican style bathroom and even a kitchen! our courtyard was absolutely beautiful, just like the rest of the accommodation - there are gorgeous green gardens, about 4 fountains and even a church! my mother and I enjoyed the serenity of lounging around the gorgeous pool on super comfortable lounges with views over Lake Chapala - complete bliss!!!
I loved our stay so much I am trying to convince my husband to travel back with me to enjoy the same experience that my mother and I had.
I absolutely recommend this accommodation to all types of travellers - if you want a peaceful, quiet, clean, comfortable place to stay in Lake Chapala with outstanding service this is the place to be!!

We spent a great weekend at Villa del Angel, a lovely place Ajijic. The villa is located uphill a few blocks from the lake (the street is a little inclined, but totally worth it) and provides a magnificent view of Chapala Lake. The rooms are clean with Mexican style deco and quiet. The facility has an outdoor pool for a good swim. But most important is Angelic, who takes good care of all visitors. Not only she cooks a delicious breakfast, but also pays close attention to details, making your stay the most pleasant. She speaks both spanish and English. Villa del Angel offers a great place to stay.

I was going to check into what trip advisor had listed as #1 on here, but after checking out the place I changed my mind. In the village the other accomidations are dark and not as clean, they don't offer any view and there is so much noise through out the day, evening. Thank goodness for Villa del Angel, it is definitely a cut above the rest, literally. One could just stay within the gates of Villa Del Angel and be perfectly content, gorgeous pool, multiple living room areas, media room, 2 levels of patios and lower garden. I could go on and on, but really just needed to let others know that Villa Del Angel should be #1 on trip advisor, no questions. It makes me doubt trip advisor a bit since it isn't.

Room Tip: All rooms are gorgeous, cant go wrong. King room downstairs has French glass doors that open to pool...

Villa del Angel is a B&B "compound" with an affable and charming woman who runs it--Ms. Estrada (or Angelique). Actually, she and her darling dogs run the B&B. You can get some great exercise walking into the local pueblo, because the B&B is up a relatively steep hill. Coming in from the often dusty pueblo, it's like waking into an oasis--clean, azure pool water, and charming perritos to great you at the entrance. All of the rooms are different, and one feels at him instantly. Breakfast is superb sitting out on the patio or deck overlooking the pool and chapel.

I highly recommend this B&B!

From the moment we walked through those big beautiful doors to the inside courtyard, we were nothing short of blown away. You got the impression you were somewhere very special and it only got better from there. We were immmediately greeted by angelique, our gracious host, who showed us to our room with breathtaking views of lake Chapala. We were tired from our red eye flight but decided to explere the grounds anyways. Coffee and local authentic sweet bread awaited us in the kitchen, Angelique even offered us breakfast, which was not even supposed to be served to us that day. We sat down to breakfast on a beautiful balcony overlooking the pool and the lake, we were blown away. This was not your typical hotel meal either, this was fresh squeezed oj from her own trees, home cooked traditional meals that were nothing short of comfort food. Angelique speaks English, as she is originally from the U.S. and she was charming and very easy to talk to. I felt as if I had known her for a long time already.

We highly recommend this B&B, it is a step into the old world spanish era with a modern twist. We will not soon forget this trip, and plan to return sometime in the future. We know where to find hospitality that is second to none, in a magical place that exceeded our imaginations.

Room Tip: Every room is different and seems to have its own theme. All have picturesque views.

A boutique Bed & Breakfast with 5 spacious rooms with baths on 3 different levels that overlook tiled pool area and beautiful Lake Chapala. A different, lavish breakfast served each day. Impeccable service by owner/manager Angelique. Quiet, private, but close to downtown Ajijic plaza, restaurant, shops. 40 minutes from Guadalajara airport.

Room Tip: Upper level room offers the most spectacular vista, but each room has unique and flowery views.
