Los Artistas B & B

Los Artistas is a very pleasant and attractive enclave in Ajijic-- beautiful gardens (thanks, Jose), great hosts (thanks, Linda & Kent), and tasty (and varied) breakfasts (thanks, Socorro). We were guests there for nine nights and stayed in The Studio, which was a beautiful casita in the garden. It's an easy walk (although sturdy shoes are recommended for Ajijic's wonderful cobblestone streets) to all of the puebla's venues-- restaurants, the plaza, the weekly colorful and lively tiengui (market), and the Lake Chapala Society compound. Good choice. Another plus: Sasha and Sophie, the resident basset hounds.

Kent and Linda found a bit of paradise in Aijic and have decided to share it with others! Is it the voluptiousness of the gardens, the cleanliness and uniqueness of the rooms, the friendly owners, the sense of security, the hearty and varied breakfasts, the efficient service or the pair of affectionate bassets that make it so? It's all of that and more. We'll be back!

TripAdvisor reviews of Los Artistas convinced us to stay there during our recent four day-trip to Ajijic, and we weren't disappointed. It's every bit as beautiful, peaceful, and enjoyable as others have described. We opted for the Mango Room, roomy and private with a nice tiled bathroom--it's one of three rooms in the casita in the back of the garden. If we return, and we hope to, I expect we'd opt again for one of the casita rooms or the studio (another small dwelling separate from the main house), for the privacy. The place was only half occupied when we were there, so we enjoyed many hours alone at the pool. It's a decent walk to the square in the middle of town--but nothing a semi-active person can't easily accomplish, and a small grocery & liquor store (and some other shopping) is just two blocks or so away. The Wednesday street market is only a block away. Some other things you should know: no TV, no AC in the casita (but the breeze & ceiling fans kept us plenty comfortable); the owners have two Basset hounds (very sweet); wireless Internet is available (though we couldn't get a signal inside our room--only on the front porch); the guest kitchen is equipped with a fridge but no means of reheating your leftovers; and do have a look at all of the materials, handouts, and guidebooks lying about--they can direct you to many restaurants, available services, and so on that you might not hear about otherwise.

I've stayed in two B & B's in Ajijic and Los Artistas was by far the most pleasent surroundings. The gardens with the water features provided a constant atmosphere of tranquility and the bird population through out the trees and gardens created a musical backdrop unlike any I have experienced before.

Stayed four nights at Los Artistas. Terrific hosts and staff - very helpful. Rooms are well maintained, nicely decorated, clean & quiet. Walled yard, with pool, is a beautiful, quiet place to relax. Great breakfast. Easy walking distance to restaurants and shops.

This is a really nice B & B....the garden is magical. Also the breakfasts were very delicious and because the guestsand the hosts were all so friendly that extra cup of coffee was great.

I would recommend this B & B for anyone who is looking for a comfortable get away in a lovely town and who wants a peaceful and interesting holiday.

Very nice accomodations right in the middle of Ajijic. Room was very clean and nicely decorated. Grounds are exceptional with a small pool and a very large and lush garden. Breakfasts are included and made-to-order by the cook, Socorro. By the way, the coffee is the best I've had in any hotel anywhere. Within easy walking distance of excellent restaurants and shopping. I couldn't recommend a B&B more highly. Finally, Los Artistas is handicap friendly - my wife is disabled - we had no problems with her wheelchair on the premises.
