Good-enough imitation of a small New Orleans kitchen, where the owner-chef says he learned the ways of Paul Prudhomme. Good gumbo, chicken, and seafood dishes, plus catfish and homemade cornbread. Don’t miss the special of blackened chicken and shrimp and mussels in a sassy sauce of tomatoes and spinach, served over a big bowl of linguini. Head for the tables inside where you can savor the smells of Cajun cookin’ rather than sitting at the tables outside that feature road noise and dust from the main highway 10 feet away.

I forget from one year to the next how much I enjoy returning to the good food and the great personality of Gossip's. As always the service was excellent, the conversation interesting and the food - delicious!! True - the corner of the Carretera is not an ideal location but eating at a restaurant in Ajijic is more of an adventure if you throw out your conventional ideas about "dining out". You just need to be open - to good food, a warm welcome and the accompanying symphony of laughter, traffic and the sizzle of fantastic food on the grill!

I agree with one of the other reviewers: Gossips like many other restaurants in Ajijic is SERIOUSLY overrated. Newsflash: Toronto residence does not guarantee a good meal. Often wondered why so many restaurants, in fact so many aspects of Ajijic, are overhyped. A long time resident explained that the gringos who settle in Ajijic have decided to live there and never learn Spanish. So they consider ANY restaurant with English speaking waiters to be "excellent"

Rubbish. Gossip's kitchen is mediocre in every respect. I asked for vegetarian options: they had only one: black beans. Now that was totally okay. I didn't expect many. But if you make a simple pot of beans and serve it as an entree, can't you at least cook the beans thoroughly? The beans were HARD. Nothing notable or special here worth trying again. I never returned

We visited Gossip on its first anniversary. Ismat was great, knowing that he had worked in Toronto, we had a great time and he welcomed us instantly. I had already read some great reviews and they were true, amazing food, some of the best we have tasted. I had the Sheppard Pie and it was delicious followed by the Bread Dessert with Ice Cream. The service was great and the ambiance delightfull. Keep up the good work Ismat!!!
