We all live in Ajijic and are permanent residents here. We have a Bi Monthly Dinner group that eats at the better restaurants.

Seven of us from our Bi Monthly Dinner group ate at Hacienda Ajijic Steak Place tonight. The new owner, Pedro Arellano came over to introduce himself to each one of us. He told us the first drink was on the house, so order something expensive. Most of us ordered Margaritas in one form or another. They brought the tortilla chips and two salsas. One salsa was the typical one with tomatoes, onions and cilantro, very mild for American tastes. The other was a hot orange color, don't know what that was.

Thursday night is 99.50 peso meat special, except for rib eyes. Wednesday night is 99.50 pesos seafood special. NOW, that has changed to 130 pesos ($10.50 US) on Wednesday and Thursday night with a "generous" pour of house wine.

Most of us ordered the Filet Mignon done either rare or medium rare. It comes with Baked Potato and a few veggies. All the Filet Mignons were cooked exactly as ordered. They were large, juicy and very tender. I would say the size equals Bruno's Baseball Filet and is about double the size of Ajijic Tango's filet, except Hacienda's Filet quality is far better. The Baked potato was cooked perfectly, nice and soft, an improvement over their previous baked potatos at Hacienda. You can get the Filet with either a Red Wine sauce or Mushroom sauce, with tons of mushrooms.

One person ordered the Shrimp Diablo with a medium heat to it. It comes with rice and veggies, but he opted for a double order of rice. He said that was good too. Service was good and all meals were delivered at the same time.

We highly recommend Don Pedro restaurant located on the Carretera in West Ajijic. Closed on Mondays. Telephone: 766 4906

The menu could be a little more interesting but the food is always good, especially their sopa axteca. YUMMMMY.

Consistent, clean, good service and an outdoor seating area for smokers.

We have a Semi Monthly Dinner group in Ajijic and attend the better restaurants here.
On Thursday night June 14, 6 of us from our Semi Monthly Dinner group ate at HACIENDA AJIJIC Steak Place. The restaurant was about half full. Jorge, the owner told us that Wednesday and Thursday are his busiest days. He is considering putting specials on for other days as there is no business except for a few Mexicans on weekends.

On Wednesday, all Seafood dishes are $ 99. pesos. On Thursday all Meat is $ 99 pesos (that's about $ 7.60 US). This is a great deal, so patronize Hacienda Ajijic as Jorge is a very hard working young man. They served the tortilla chips with salsa first. They are now using a nice fresh Tortilla chip, non greaseless and very freshly made salsa with no bite to it and the salsa had just come from the fridge.

They took our drink orders. Some had Margaritas. Two had wine, both red and white. They said it was good and a decent pour, large glasses about half full, for $ 38. pesos.

We ordered our food. One person ordered the Shrimp Diablo, which you can get in varying degrees of heat. He ordered it mild and said the meal was very good. It comes with rice and veggies.

Five of us ordered the Filet Mignon. It comes with a choice of sauces: Mushroom, Pepper or Red wine sauce. We all ordered the Mushroom sauce which was very good with huge chunks of mushrooms. You can get a choice of Baked Potato with/without Sour Cream, Veggies or Fettucine as a side. Some chose the Baked Potato, others the Fettucine. I chose the Baked Potato and Veggies which were hard as a rock. I ate the carrots, but the broccoli was hard. We all agreed that the Filet Mignon was very large, very tasty, tender and cooked to perfection. Service at Hacienda is always excellent.

Their menu also consists of other steaks, salmon, bass, lamb, lamb arrachera, rabbit and boar and some pastas. Lots of appetizers and salads.

We like the setting but last time there everything had so much salt in it, could not eat all of it. My husband's baked potato was inedible.
