“Amazing place, needs to work out some details”
Reviewed November 12, 2012

We stayed there this past Friday. The place is absolutely stunning. Trully breathtaking. I think we where there on the first weekend they had had rain. Which meant mud and a whole lot of slippery surfaces. It was very cold, although the rooms where really cozy. They need to work on some design elements to accommodate for the changing season, such as a floor mat to avoid bringing all the mud inside after walking arownd. And maybe a rug next to the bed as the concrete floor was freezing. It is a place that you sort of want to stay at and not have to track arwond to go to another property. But you sort of are forced to leave the property for dinner as their restaurant is compleatly outdoors. We had lunch there and it was delicious, but brrrrrr. There is not enough chimeneas in the world to warm it up. We decided to go to Laja for dinner which was a 5 minutes drive. We asked for a taxi as we where a group of 6 ladies, the taxi charged us 15 dollars a person for literally a 5 minute drive. This was arranged by the loby and was total highway robbery.
Speaking of chimeneas, hanging out in the cute balconies drinking wine, overlooking the valley with a fire burning was amazing. Unfortunately with the rain, this was no longer a possibility. Overal, amazing space, worthy of a visit, but desperately need to make adjustments to this next season, to keep guest safe and comfortable. Saturday day the vibe in the reception area was amazingly cool. Too bad it was not happening Saturday night or they do not serve food there as it was really somewhere we would have loved to have been able to hang out at more. Keep In mind than in the rain, the only way to get places is using a range rover from the hotel and bring lots of warm layers, shoes win traction, and some slippers for the freezing floors!

Hide treasure in Guadalupe,Baja wine country, excellent place for relax, walk and wine testing and vineyards. It is very private and quiet - a perfect place to relax. The staff is very friendly and the food, although simple, is delicious! Make sure you take time to relax at the bar next to the pool at sunset.

Room Tip: Rooms from 8-10 the best sunset.

I first learned about this hotel early in the year when I saw photos of its sleek modern architecture, including its pod rooms, on various architectural blogs. Unfortunately, it wasn't open at the time... but fast-forward to my birthday weekend in November when we were looking for a weekend getaway and CHECK! endemico was open.

This place is essentially the architecture I dream of if I could build my own home. It's clean and modern. The views are amazing. The food is great and the people working there are very friendly.

The experience is like going on a modern camping safari: You're in these modern pods, but they're connected by dirt roads. To go anywhere else, you call a black or white Land Rover by walkie talkie to pick you up. That's right, no phone system! There are even hand-cranked, modern red LED flashlights to navigate the night. (Note that there are lights and walkways, but these options are much more fun.)

What else... probably my favorite part: the chimeneas everywhere, particularly on the balcony of each room. Just call up on your walkie talkie and someone will come to stock yours with wood and light it up.

Just an amazing time and I can't wait to go back...

It is hard not to gush about Endemico. After reading the other TripAdvisor comments before I went down (I live in San Diego, it is only an hour and a half drive south), it seemed that there were still some kinks to be worked out with the new hotel. I am happy to report, that as of October 2012, they have achieved the level of service, beauty and originality that one comes to expect from a Design Hotel. To say that it was a perfect trip would be an understatement. The "pods" are exquisite. Small, but with tall ceilings and a private porch (each with lounge furniture and a chiminea!) that make it cozy without being claustrophobic.

Service was EXCELLENT. The bilingual staff is there to get you whatever you need. From the complimentary glass of wine upon arrival, to the driver in a Landrover who takes you and your bags to your "cabin"- everyone was kind, gracious, attentive and skilled. Each pod has a handheld radio (as opposed to a phone) in order to radio reception with any request you have- from room service, fire lighting, housekeeping or general information. It works perfectly. And it is fun!

It is definitely "glamping." Dirt roads, no TVs, but free Wi-Fi. I brought my computer so I felt connected but free from the electronic white noise we have become so accustomed to in our modern world.

The pool is beautiful, the spa is warm- and open late. Wine in the jacuzzi under the stars with a fire nearby? Check. The restaurant was delicious. We had chilaquiles for breakfast with a view of the pool and the valley beyond- sheer perfection.

As for the valley itself, Endemico sits at the very East end, right above a few choice wineries. L.A. Cetto, La Casa de Dona Lupe, Domecq and Paralelo are a stone's throw away and all worth a visit. If you want to to the other parts of the valley for wine tasting or dinner, I would suggest getting a driver, which the hotel can arrange for you, then you don't have to worry about drinking and driving.

October is a lovely time to go. It is also much more affordable in the off season. We stayed on Sunday night and it was $138 USD. I consider that a steal and think it is easily worth $250-$300 USD on a high-season weekend. The valley is very hot in the summer, our trip gave us a beautiful 75 degrees on average, though I would go at anytime of year just to go again. I'm sure each time I return will bring other wonderful experiences.

CAVEAT: You sign a release of liability waiver when you check in. There are dirt roads and at night you only have a flashlight. This hotel is best for the able bodied. Children are not allowed and I do not think it is advisable for the elderly.

Room Tip: They are all amazing, since there are only 20 and each has a view, but we had #1, and I have to say...

This new Eco-hotel in Mexico's booming wine country (Valle de Guadalupe) is a real experience!! The hotel was designed by a young architect from Tijuana and consists of 20 "pods" scattered throughout a hill top overlooking the wine valley and vineyards. It is very private and quiet - a perfect place to relax. The staff is very friendly and the food, although simple, is delicious! Make sure you take time to relax at the bar next to the pool at sunset!! Just be prepared for a little dust as the roads and paths throughout the hotel are un paved!

Each couple gets their own cabin...what a novel concept....and very cozy! The place is spotlessly clean and the mattress was very comfortable. The views are dramatic from every window. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. The breakfast at the pool was delicious. Hiking around the area was also breathtaking. Highly recommended.
