“Unique in this area”
Reviewed April 16, 2014

Don't hesitate to try the unique menu, 10 courses or so, with unique dishes that you've never seen before. Their wine is also good.

“The most special jewel of the area!”
Reviewed February 25, 2014

Imagine driving along a dirt road and finding what looks like an Italian Villa in the distance. As you get closer. you notice vineyards and an upside down boat. The wine cava is below the boat! Drive a bit further and voila... A beautiful modern building that is breathtaking. Everything is natural and beautiful. Inside is a gorgeous room made of recycled natural materials, flanked by a lily pond and a large organic garden. The food is beyond splendid! Five or six small courses, everything locally grown, and magnificently prepared most creatively. This is my favorite place in an area which has many many wonderful restaurants.

“Tasting menu Dec. 2013”
Reviewed January 10, 2014

I read about the hype of this restaurant that is rated as one of the top restaurants in Latin America... I really got excited over the tasting menu with a beverage paring (read: beverage means beer and wine... all locally produced) all for $100 per person-- an awesome deal given that everything is produced in the region, if not on the property.

The meal itself was fantastic, consisting of 6 courses including an amuse bouche, salad, soup (in a wonderfully designed bowl by local artist Karla Patterson, who I am still trying to reach), raw fish course (bluefin sashimi), cooked fish course (rock cod over celeraic), and a somewhat overcooked meat course (it is supposed to be slow cooked, but it came out a bit dry... sad- because the flavor of the beef was excellent) followed by a dessert granita. Some of the beverage parings were not what I expected, and worked out for the most part, the only trouble I had was getting back to Ensenada in the dark-- although Google maps was a lifesaver)!

“Can't wait to go back!”
Reviewed November 27, 2013

LOVED it here. We will need to go back during summer hours so we can experience the property in the daylight. Highly recommend wine pairing with meal especially because Corazon thinks outside the box and did a beer with 2 of the courses. I am normally a pescatarian but had to have the beef tongue and quail, two items I have never had before. I wanted to lick the bowl with the beef tongue. The attention to design details makes this restaurant modern and cozy. The wait staff was wonderful and overall experience is up there with our years of dining in NYC. Can't wait to get back there!

“A Foodie’s Delight: Exceptional, Unique, Splendid”
Reviewed November 18, 2013

Set in the heart of the wine country of the Guadalupe Valley, Mexico, Corazon de Tierra is a a treat for the senses. Farm to table fresh without pretense. Roughly a five-ten course tasting menu (half are entrées and the others are amuse-bouches) is served over a three hour period, it is something to be savored and enjoyed with friends and family. Casual, delicious and worthy of its praise as one of Latin America’s top 50 restaurants. 5-star the whole way and very creative blends of foods we rarely get here, even at the experimental kitchens. Chef, Diego Hernandez has quite a history which we found out later. (look him up)

We didn't know what to expect and it's not easy to find. Lunch was $65/per person (set fee and menu) plus wine.

I managed to take notes in my lap and our waiter went out of his way to pull up pictures of the clams and other unusual seafare. We ate a wide variety of items, all locally grown or from nearby Ensenada including Smoked Rockfish, Geoduck clams (vulgar looking in real life, but yummy) with cheese, bacon and Cortez cheese, Swiss Chard pesto and local olive oil, goat cheese salad with fresh tomatoes, ceviche with lavender and a blue flower called Borage, gherkin, beef tongue, quail and oysters, purple basil granita, saffron ice cream with pomegranate sauce.

It's casual with big open space and wooden tables and floors with a recycled feel. I's an open kitchen, the service is wonderful, our waiter spoke English and was very helpful as I wrote out my notes.

Need to know: Unless you are allergic to foods, don't plan on changing the menu. Don't drive in the dark, it's a bumpy dusty road, off the beaten path - get a driver if you need to. It took us about 2 hours to drive from Orange County. We went through Ensenada and then up, but you can also Tecate and go south instead. Plan on at least 2.5 hours. Make a reservation otherwise they may not be able to accommodate you. They have an excellent wine selection and our waiter knew how to pair the menu well.

Plan a day around your meal and visit the local vineyards — plenty of them and a wide variety of experiences. I wish they had cooking classes, at least for a couple of the dishes that were so fantastic. We will definitely be going back!
