totally to recommend!

If you're looking for a very inexpensive, clean place to stay while driving up or down the Baja, at the halfway point in Guerrero Negro, this is the place. No frills, that's for sure, but very clean rooms with comfortable beds. They ask for $100p deposit for the TV remote control, which you get back in the morning. The main reason to stay there is to not have to get back in the car and hunt for a restaurant when you're so tired from driving all day. Their restaurant serves great local seafood and they always have a tasty hot soup as well. I've stayed there many times and always meet interesting people...fellow road warriors....in the restaurant, which helps make dining alone there more of an adventure. The waiters are very nice, and they have even kept the dining room open for me when I have arrived later than they usually stay open. There's also a bar which seems to be a locals hangout...and a little gift store with some fun things for sale.
The rooms are pretty bare bones, and have a kitchy decor which I find quite humorous. Somebody is at least making an attempt to be more than what they are. It's just fine for a place to crash, get a wonderful dinner and hit the sack to start out early again the next day. You get a discounted nightly rate of $400p if you are a member of Discover Baja or Vagabundos. Really hard to beat that!

Room Tip: There is no heat and the rooms are cold..so bring something warm to sleep in. There are extra blanke...

I pulled into this lodging establishment after a very long day on the Baja. I'd started in San Diego that morning. This is not luxury but a decent, safe place with rooms and RV hook-ups. The beds are comfortable, although it would be best to bring your own pillow. There is TV and coffee maker and even a bottle of water. There is no clock. The bathroom is basic with shower and anything but plush towels. The towels, however, had air dried on a clothes line and smelled wonderful. The shower provides plenty of hot water and the water pressure is great.

I dined in the property restaurant. The sea bass was excellent. Dinner was a bit pricey (300 pesos) for dinner, two glasses of house wine, and flan for dessert. Breakfast wasn't cheap either but very good and hot (100 pesos).

I will definately make this a stop evenever feasible on my journeys up and down the Baja.

The restaurant is excelent, but the hotel is not... they ask at first the deposit in chash (for the tv remote control), it is a hugh problem with wi-fi connection all around and the rooms look verry avarege... The bigest problem is that they NOT accepted all the credit cards (mastercard). I suggest only to try the restaurant.

We arrived without reservations and at the reception they were really nice and helpful. They gave us two rooms for the first day and we had to move to a different room the following day, so we had a chance to sleep on 2 different types of room. I have to say the rooms are great! The larger suites have more room and two comfy double beds. The interior decoration is really nice and everything is clean. The smaller rooms also have two double beds, but still plenty of room.
At the restaurant the food is good, although service is a bit slow and it is difficult to order something different from the menu (as food for children).
On our experience the only low was the travel agency. Initially we wanted to see the salina, but then saw there was a bird and berrendo watching tour along with the salina. We asked for information and were told it was three hours. It turned out that it was three hours alwasy on the car, with little time to take photographs to the birds and a big dissapointment at the end... the berrendos were closed in fences... if we had known that we had to go all that way to see berrendos closed in fences we sure would not go. People at the travel agency just lie to sell the tours. For the whale watching tour we had decided to go with them, as they said they departed from a different part and were closer to the entrance of the lagoon, and time on the boat was 3 hrs compared to the 1.5 from the boats at the national park... After our experience with the berrendos we decided to go directly with the park boats and had a big surprise, as boats from both parts were at the same spot whale watchin.... The conclusion is up to you

Viewed the hotel rooms for next time we take a group down to whale watch. didnt stay there but wished we had as it looks clean and in central location.

did take our large group there for dinner and breakfast. We filled the place quickly so I cut them slack for service, which was OK. They were scrambling. What was GREAT was the food especially the seafood items for dinner. Our group was very happy. Prices were decent.

Decor is cute with all the maritime items and artwork. The Scavenger's Bar has a ceiling loaded with amazing finds from the beach.
There is also a small gift shop that has a few odds and ends. You can buy the local sea salt in a blown glass whale container with a cork. Or a necklace with abalone whale flukes.

If staying in the hotel, I would wonder if its warm enough. If I was to stay at the hotel I would ask questions about that as its cold in GN in the winter.

We were presently suprised with the whole experience.Malarrimo runs a very well organized motel, restaurant and whale excursion. We recommend this spot to everyone.
