Review of Buckshot Betty's

Description: There are few places to stop and eat along this portion of the Alaska Highway. This restaurant started out a few years ago as a small cafe, and last year built their present quarters. We've stopped there to eat a few times, and it would be good to review it.

The offerings were basic and the menu limited but the food very good and the prices were reasonable for this Yukon outpost. (Don't miss the cinnamon rolls for breakfast!)

Good comfort food with a limited menu. I think there are only three places to eat, so this is a good one.

The peanut butter cookies and cinnamon buns were excellent! Prices are a little high, but it is Canada.

My wife and I ate at Buckshot Betty's a few times, while we traveled from Alaska to the Yukon for our vacation. Betty makes an awesome pizza! Her pizza is homemade, with fresh and high quality ingredients. Easily one of the top five pizzas we have had. Breakfast was also good; I really enjoyed the breakfast burrito.

Wow... Our experience was nothing like the summer reviews. Just finished a 720 mile leg of our trip to Anchorage. Walked in the front door at 7:50pm only to find the place completely empty. Called out after waiting 10 min. The person running the place came out of the kitchen very upset at us for calling out. We asked about rooms for the three of us. We could rent single bed cabins for $90 each or the 3 bdrm house for $200. Went for the house.was asked how late the restaurant was open. She said 9pm. We went to the house to drop our gear and went back to Betty's for dinner. Had the worst pizza and most watered down drink ever along with the service with an attitude. Went back to the house to settle in only to find the place filthy. My bedding hadn't been changed from the last guest. I don't think the carpet had been vacuumed since summer. We were too tired to walk back to the restaurant in -15 weather so we broke out the sleeping bags and slept on to of the covers. I looked out the window at 11pm and saw the restaurant was hopping. I guess she didn't want us crashing the local hangout. The front door to the house also didn't lock . If this is your only choice for lodging and food, drive on to Tok. It will be worth the extra 2 hours! She also didn't know the password to the Internet in the house.
