“OK for one night”
Reviewed May 8, 2014

The room was small, but clean. Everything in the room worked. It was on the main drag only a short distant from the Casino if that is your interest. No breakfast is provided, but there is a McDonald's very close. Nothing bad to say.

Stayed 1 night in the queen suite. Room was small but comfy and looked like it had been recently touched up. The biggest problem was the shower. It definitely had a mind of its own. The SCALDING hot water would kick in suddenly and burn you if you didn't get jump out of the way in time. Even with the colder temperature it kicked right to scalding hot. Be VERY careful.

The innkeeper told us when we checked in that it is better than it seems. He was right, in fact it was good. A clean and comfortable room at a very reasonable price, just the ticket for a weary traveller. The non smoking room was genuinely that - not always the case in frontier towns when "non-smoking" can mean that there isn't currently a lit cigarette in the room.

I have cat allergies, and although the office is well-catted out, i wasn't bothered and there was no trace of it in the room. A bonus, you don't have to walk far for a decent dinner and breakfast - check out Mr. Ribs, right on site.

We stayed at the Battlefords Inn from July 06 – 08, three nights. Aside from the cranky owners and the cigarette butts littered in the gaps between the sidewalk and the doors to each room and the odd empty abandoned paper coffee cup, the motel is just fine.

It has been refurnished recently with new TV stands, bed-side tables and flat screen TVs. There is a good sized fridge with a small freezer and a microwave. The beds are very comfortable. The air conditioner worked just fine [it was hovering around 30C the whole time we were in North Battleford]. It was wonderful to have a cool room to come home to sleep in.

The shower and toilet are separate from the sink and closet area. The shower is decent as far as pressure goes. There were very few hangers in the closet and no iron or ironing board but we did manage to procure an iron from the front desk upon request – no ironing board though.
There was no paper and pen as there usually are in motel rooms. But the internet service worked very well and was free.

All in all it was nothing fancy but perfectly adequate for the price: around $88 per night with the CAA discount. There are many delightful cats at the front desk who were much friendlier than the two owners.

The motel is very close to Wal-Mart and the Frontier Mall and several chain restaurants, e.g., Taco Time, Subway, Boston Pizza, etc. In the same parking lot as the motel is the restaurant Mr. Ribs. I do not recommend it for service. The waitress assured us that there was no such thing as a hot Greek salad as no one ever puts anything hot on top of a salad. She was completely serious. The food was okay, the chicken souvlaki chicken was delicious, tasted like it was home bbq’d, yummy, but the clam chowder [New England style] was watery and had very little taste.

Room Tip: all the rooms are the same.

Clean and affordable - nothing too fancy but no complaints here. they are pet friendly and probably have smoking rooms as well but mine was non-smoking and was good. They do have cats about in the office so if you have allergies then perhaps not the best option but certainly handy to downtown, highway and strip malls along with the Western Development Museum.

Room Tip: The internet was a bit slow so perhaps a room closer to the office - the motel layout puts half the...
