“A tradition that keeps on growing”

We started by going every year, without the kids, staying in a Mountain suite. Then discovered the rustic cabins, and started going with the kids. Now, I just wish we could go there every month! The owners, the staff, the location, the facilities - it's absolutely PERFECT.

It was our first time renting a cabin here. We had a great time. We stayed at a small cabin called "echo de bois". It was exactly what we wanted. Small , cozy , and romantic. Went snowshoeing for about 4 hours the next day, and really enjoyed the trails. Try the organic meat, it was amazing. The owners are very pleasant.

Room Tip: Expect nothing, experience everything!

Dear Darryl C,

Thank you for taking the time to review us. We are glad you had a great time, that is what keeps us going. So happy you enjoyed the trails, too. We'll be adding another 4km this year and 10km over the next 2-3 years on the new part of the property. Our Highland meat is always available and you can take it home (frozen) as well.

Hope to see you again soon,
Your Au Diable Vert team

Au Diable Vert is an incredibly beautiful place! Over the years, we have stayed in most of the cabins, prospector tents, treehouses and gone camping numerous times. Every experience has been a great one. We enjoy hiking from spring to fall, and snowshoeing in the winter, and the view is spectacular year round. We have have always been very well greeted by the owner's Julie and Jeremy, and have always received a great service. This is also our dog's favorite place. This is our favorite ways of spending our weekends!!!

I just came back from my 4th visit to Au Diable Vert. We (family) had a blast. The views, the quiet, the cattle, the hiking, the campfires...always highlights of the trip. We are fans of alternative lodging. eco-lodges, glamping...whatever you want to call it. If you stay in an ice hotel it will be cold, if you sleep on a fishing boat you may get seasick, if you stay in a cabin in the woods you will have critters. Expectations need to be aligned...this type of experience is somewhere between camping and a cottage rental. Its a mini-adventure!...and a really good one at that!

Room Tip: Don't choose blind. Look at the map on their website to see the locations of all the cabins. Don...

My wife, 2 boys, 8 and 10 and me, spent a weekend in one of the tree houses recently and loved it!
Check in was easy enough before we all hiked to our accommodations, which was a terrific transition into the outdoorsy weekend we were about to have.
Kids were freaking out, they loved being up high with the views and particularly enjoyed the highland cattle......one even gave birth while we were there....WOW ....kids are still talking about it - something to see! We all loved the trails and bumped into the owner and kids along the way - very courteous and helpful - he recommended things to do and 'secret spots' for the kids to explore, like the fishing cabin and bridge. Saturday evening we BBQ'ed some steaks, had a bonfire at the treehouse and watched the stars.
Friends of ours recommended Au Diable Vert to us a while ago and we are really glad we had the experience and would definitely go back, maybe even in the winter.... Great place to unplug and enjoy the simple things with the family.

Dear SittingBear,

Thank you for taking the time to review our place. Sounds like you had a great time, although it doesn't sound like you did much "sitting" :-). It's a perfect place to bring kids, and believe it or not even though I work here I have had many family outings/vacations here. My favorite is that all the cars stay park far away from trails, campsites and cabins, so I don't have to worry about letting the kids run around.

Let us know when you visit next, we'll have some Highland cow toys set aside for the kids, just like the one they saw being born!

We've stayed here as a family a few times over the years, in the treehouses and cabins. We have 2 kids age 4 and 5 and we live in BC- but we visit Sutton from time to time on our trips back east. We're used to camping in tents with the kids so the cabins are a big improvement! Don't expect luxury accommodations here- you get what you pay for and what is advertised. Do be prepared for a funky laid back outdoor vibe, and well constructed (though slightly drafty) cabins. The staff deliver firewood and smiles, and are very helpful. If you want a hotel with hot showers in the room and mints on the pillow, don't go here! But if you want and easy adventure with the kids, with plenty to do and great views then stay here for sure! (Don't miss the moonlight paddles on the nearby river- you can rent stuff from the office.) The apartments beside the office are also good value, and very quaint and well appointed.

Dear Skycake,

Thank you for taking the time to review our place. We take it as a huge compliment that your BC outdoorsy family has been a repeat customer... there is great outdoors out West, but we pride ourselves in having one of the best spots out here in the Eastern Townships. Did you know that we won the Quebec and Canadian Tourism Awards this year?
We do agree that the mints on the pillows isn't our style, it's more the marsh mellows around the campfire kind of place.
You may have just missed the opening of our new cliff cabins this summer - you'll want to put those on the list for your next stay. We'll be happy to have you try out our new activity next summer - VeloVolant - a canopy cycle tour and Canadian first.

What a beautiful place. The scenery is spectacular. My favorite was the early mornings when the valley is filled with fog, a lake of clouds. The Highland cattle are not out of place at all, the early sun brings out the reds in their fur, i took so many pictures. They taste delicious, too. We ordered steaks and had them thawed (they included steak spice in a little zip lock) mmmh.

We found this place by accIdent. We actually were really unhappy with the accomodation we had booked somewhere else, and the tourist office suggested Diable Vert, maybe because we had a dog, there wasn't much choice.

So we booked into a mountain view suite. No TV, no phone pure scenery and nature......bliss. Unfortunately, the suite was only available for 2 nights, so they send us on an explore of the available cabins. Our dog was aloud everywhere and as he is well trained no leash was required. The trails are nice, well marked, except for the new cabins, but the front desk girl pointed those out and marked them on the handout map.

We picked the Jeremy Fisher cabin, it was isolated and by a small brook. Of course we were not fully equipped for an outdoor adventure, but the sleeping bags the staff rented us were clean and comfortable and a dogbed for our dog. We slept wonderfully, maybe it was the fresh mountain air, maybe the peaceful evening we spend by the campfire, I think it was the sound of the water in the brook.

We found the cabin rustic, very clean upon arrival. We did not use the wood stove, but the cups and plates we used were in a plastic container, not new, but clean? There was some mouse evidence the next day, we wiped it away, never saw a mouse. However we did see a beautiful barred owl very close to the cabin.

Will we be back? Absolutely no question, in fact we booked our snowshoe and SPA package for January in a Perched Cabin before leaving.

Dear traveljuicety,

thank you for taking the time to review us. we are absolutely thrilled you had such a good time and that you'll be back very soon. Also you dog is always welcome, and we mean it, in all lodging, on all our trails, by the river, any size no extra charge....we only ask that you help them to "leave no trace", be nice with the other guests on 4 and 2 legs, and not let them on the furniture for our human guests.

We have entered you in our draw for a free SPA visit with all our December reviews. Inquire if you've won when you come for your stay in January.

Thank you,
