Me and several of my siblings stayed at the Auberge Harris in mid-June for a family reunion. One of my sisters had made the reservations about a month earlier andt there was some totally understandable confusion over the reservations, but the owner sorted them out. My brother and his wife were upgraded to a lovely suite for a very small cost increase, which was great because it gave us a place to meet. This was in the main building, so they didn’t have to go outside.
I was initially in the older “no-frills” section of the motel, since my first few days I was alone. The room was clean and cozy, albeit a little small. Furnishings were rather dated but the bed was comfortable. There was a mini-fridge and microwave oven. The shower was very powerful. Oddly enough, only soap was provided, so I bought some shampoo. I liked that the bathroom had a window, so I could open that window and the one in the room, have some nice fresh air and not bother with air conditioning.
When another of my sisters arrived, I moved to the main building to share a room with her; this room was larger, had more up-to-date furniture and two queen beds, a table and two chairs. a mini-fridge but no microwave oven. The bathroom was bigger but without a window, and the shower seemed less powerful. However, this bathroom had shampoo!
The towels in the rooms were smallish, kind of on the thin side and scratchy and the carpets in the rooms felt sticky, probably from humidity over the years—I wore slippers. But all the rooms (including my brother’s suite) were very clean.
There was a nice heated swimming pool which some patrons enjoyed. The parking lot tended to get a little crowded at times. The motel is across the street from the Richelieu River and canal, with a lovely bicycle path; I believe bicycle rentals were available at the office.
Continental breakfast was juice, muffins, toast and really good coffee or for $8 you could get a full hot buffet breakfast.
The staff was all very friendly, and as helpful as possible to answer any questions or provide recommendations.
If you’re looking for a nice, relaxing, unpretentious place, very well-situated to Montreal and local amenities, I can wholeheartedly recommend the Auberge Harris.

We wanted to bicycle on the tow path of the Chambly Canal. It was Saturday night and the bike shop in town was closed on Sunday. This hotel was listed on the website of the Route Verte, so we decided to stay there because they rented bicycles. There were very few rooms left - this was during the busy season on a beautiful weekend. We had stopped at the tourist information center in Chambly who called and was told there were no rooms, so we went there just to ask about bikes and the woman at the front desk said she could get us into a room after all. She was very friendly!

The motel itself was quite plain, the view out the window was into the parking lot and then at the swimming pool. The Auberge is across the highway from the river so you're not really next to the water.

Our room was small and ordinary. It was clean and functional but not very romantic, and being on the first floor you had to close the curtains for any privacy. The walls/ceilings were thin enough that we could hear whenever neighbors turned on the water.

The person above us got up at 5:30AM, took a shower, and walked around the room for the next couple of hours. When we went for breakfast, the innkeeper asked how our night was, and I mentioned this. She then apologized (even though it was certainly not the fault of the hotel) and when we checked out she did not charge us for renting the bicycles.

The breakfast was plain (juice, coffee, small muffin or toast). But the people there were all friendly, happy to give advice about restaurants or how to get places. They were next to the bike route (although you had to ride about 2 km along the road until you could access the route itself, because there was a canal between the road and the bike trail. The trail itself was really fun, and that made the entire experience worthwhile.

Stayed on a business trip. We were given the wrong room, we were given the cheaper motor inn type rooms when the larger room was what was payed for. The rooms were payed for for three nights, on the day of the third night that was payed for we were put out of the room at 3pm, even tho we wouldn't be leaving until 5pm, so that it could be cleaned. We had to sit in the lobby with our luggage for 2 hours. We payed for the night we weren't going to be staying to avoid this happening. We don't speak french so this may have added to the problems. Also, the breakfast is too expensive, you basically pay $8 for a continental breakfast with eggs. The only good thing about the place was that coffee is free all day, if there's any made.
