Stayed one night with my son. Great room with beautiful view of the river. Had dinner in the bar area as we could not agree on a restaurant choice (the bar offered menu from Bellerive downstairs and the St-Laurent room upstairs). Staff was very friendly throughout. Wish we could have stayed longer!!

Room Tip: Front of the hotel can be a little noisy with people going to and from the casino...

We were really excited about staying at this place and yet it was just okay. I mean, yes, it was beautiful, charming but somehow we expected more. Disapointed with the 4 course meal that was included in our package - nothing spectacular - all the good selections on the menu were not "included" in the package? The views, the salt water pool, and grounds of course are all lovely. Oh and the breakfast that was also part of our meal package totalled to $45 for 2 people...just an FYI...this really surprised me. It was a buffet breakfast...we each had a small bagle and some fruit with coffee and juice...certainly not worth $45...so on this I would recommend going somewhere else and waiving the included breakfast...

During our short visit to La Malbaie, we decided dinner at the Fairmont in town would provide the best, most delicious dining experience for miles. What a mistake that was! We recommend that just to say you've visited, take a walk through the lobby. It's rather dark yet decorated rather nicely with unique indicators over the elevators. There are also some very nice horse drawn carriages parked outside. That's it! Don't spend any money here, because it's money wasted. We decided to have dinner at their casual, buffet restaurant. At practically five o'clock in the evening, the place was jam-packed with seniors on bus tours to the casino! The restaurant was literally empty a half hour later, which was a bit creepy. The buffet served very cheap, low quality food served far too cold. The beef stew was ice cold, very chewy and I could tell came from a box. The servers were satisfactory, and not that great to go out of their way for us. The public toilet facilities didn't meet my expectations at all. Very old fixtures and poor lighting didn't lead for a very pleasant experience. Oh my gosh, I can't even tell you how expensive the bill was! It was over one hundred dollars for a cheap dinner for three we could have gotten for practically thirty dollars at home, even though it was worth no more than ten bucks. Low quality food, average service and unpleasant environment - skip eating or spending your money at this place! Oh, and don't even think about going into the nearby casino unless you're eighteen years or older. What a letdown - Fairmont's need to keep up a higher reputation than this! Parking was also very hard to find and very expensive in the area. Dine at the local restaurants - you'll be so much better off!

Great hotel on the way to Tadoussac for whale watching. Old world charm in keeping with the CP railway hotels. Service all the way awesome. Wish I had time to golf the course on the property and spend more time enjoying the facility. We did order room services after a long days drive and oh what a wonderful experience. The presentation and service would rival some of the best resturants even though we order a simple meal. Way to go fairmont.

First, the views that you get from this hotel are just amazing. Combine that with an incredible room and impeccable service, and you will have and amazing time here, like we did. We really didn't want to leave, but I think its the Charlevoix region that made us want to stay. Although every one of the staff members we had worked with were incredible, the concierge staff were great, often going above and beyond what we had expected. Shout out to Vincent and Antoine for all their help! We came on a special (buy 2 get 1 night free). We probably would try to do something like that again, because it is expensive. If this is your first time in the area, I think this hotel would be a great starting point. Once you get acclimated with the area, you'll notice B&Bs and other inns that you'll might want to try next time. But the Fairmont should not be overlooked!

It's a two hour drive from Quebec City, but it's a scenic drive and the property is well worth the trip.
There are lots of things to do, and if you just want to relax the grounds and the view of the St. Lawrence are worth it !
