The hotel has two very different aspects; the hotel itself and the restaurant.

The hotel is pretty good and affordable. The rooms at the hotel, not necessarily the pavillon as they call it, are fully renovated and quite roomy and comfortable. The style is quite modern and interesting. The staff is friendly and courteous. One thing that is unusable is the fact that the hotel cannot arrange ANYTHING to enhance the experience at the hotel. For example they can’t arrange flowers or chocolates or some kind of terroir basket for romantic getaways or for anniversary. The hotel pretty much informs you that one can arrange that on their own...

Now the restaurant...
The restaurant has the feel and looks of a cafeteria and the food is no better! The food is terrible and it tastes like most food is frozen, reheated and reshuffled through. The food is truly horrible for a hotel restaurant.

I recommend walking the 5 minutes it takes to head over to the Fairmont for a great meal.
The breakfast are equally terrible and the brunch on Sundays or Christmas are truly laughable but only set you back 11.50$ per person.... although McDonald’s or Tim Hortons would be much better!

The hotel is good and is worth staying there.
The restaurant serves beer and wine and is pretty much the only thing I would get from them.

I recommend a complete revamp of their kitchen including the chefs!!!

Thank you for you visit and for your comment. In fact the restaurant is a locator of the hotel and we have no real power in their business direction, we regret to read that you did not appreciate their services. They make their publicity saying that it's a familial restaurant with good menu for a good price. It's not their goal to offer a terroir experience or rafinate menu like that, but they serve more than 400 plates in a weekend and most people says that the meals are good. But if you expect a great experience we have a lot of nice and superior tables next to us...

We stayed in one of the Pavilions for 3 nights on our recent holiday to Canada. Our river-view room was clean and spacious with a kitchenette, fireplace and a jacuzzi bath. It was a short 5 minute walk downhill or a 2 minute free shuttle ride to the main hotel. My package included breakfast for 2 of us we only had to pay for our son. The food was good - fresh and tasty. We also ate in the restaurant every evening. As guests of the hotel we were given 15% discount off the table d'hote menu which brought it down to $22 per person for an excellent 5 course meal. The staff were very busy but were very friendly to us although I don't think they could understand us as we're English! We made sure we visited the free O'Quartz spa which was just fabulous. La Malbaie is a lovely little town. There's not a lot there but it has a great location on the river and is a short drive to wonderful scenery and amazing fall foliage. We drove to the Hautes Gorges NP and up to the Sagueney Fjord NP - both of which were spectacular. We also used La Malbaie as our base to go whale watching. I cannot recommend this hotel enough - it was our best value hotel during our whole holiday and we got so much for our money. We would love to return one day.

When booking the pavilions you must know that it is at a different location all together from the main hotel. Went to check in at hotel, was told we had to drive about 2 mins to the pavilions. Not the easiest to find. Took us 2 loops as a lot of one way flow. Also was expecting the spa to be super nice and relaxing, was disappointed. Although was told it was under construction. We just had a hot tub in a main area with nothing around it. Maybe other pavilions have better stuff but not this one.
Also asked to be moved to a room with a view, but where I booked through hotel.ca they said there was nothing they could do for me. Also a little disappointing, as I have been accommodated at different hotels before, and the hotel was near empty. I probably won't stay again, as I feel there are better options. But price was good, location good and cleanliness was also good!

Thank you for your time, but we are so sorry that you clearly miss some information. The Spa O'Quartz is located in the Hotel section but was included in the price of your room. This fabulus spa with 4 differents level of temperature hot tub pool along with 2 fifferent kinds of sauna is really a relaxing area to live the rest your were looking for... Also, the Paviliions are supposed to be well indicated on all the OTA's websites, when you are selecting a room, a picture and description should appear... I don't understand what happened if you did not know you had reserved in this section?? As we were full, no way to change it on spot for sure... But in the Pavillions you have an indoor heated pool, 2 indoor small spas and 2 outdoor spa also. Nothing under construction?? We will change all the carpets and the room will be peinted before the end of the year but no other construction in view.. The Pavillions are on the same way of the hotel and not more than 5 minutes walking as well as the Casino. Hope this information will help you next time, but always be carefull with the description when selecting a room with us or with any other hotels. A lot ot them have many categories and different buidings with different services ont spot.
Have a nice automn season.

My husband & I went to La Malbaie at the end of September & spent 3 nights at one of the Pavillon. The Pavillons & the Petit Manoir are both located just a few minutes from the main Manoir Richelieu (G7 2018) & the Casino, near the St-Laurent river. The room we got was pretty big & included a small kitchenette space, with a microwave, a fridge, a some dishes & utensils. It was very quiet, clean and confortable, and we were able to rest. The Petit Manoir offers a big spa, O'Quartz, which is free and worth a visit. At least, you'll have something to do if the weather is bad, because there is nothing to do in La Malbaie... The only interesting place was Pains d'exclamation, a charming bistro where you can have good coffee & a nice breakfast. I would suggest asking for a room with a view on the river, or you might end up with a view of the parking. At this time of year, this resort was mostly filled with seniors, just so you know... &I think that this is mostly a place for Casino lovers.

Room tip: Ask for a view of the river

Thank you so much for this nice comment, we appreciate each of them. Next time you will come, dont forget to visit the Charlevoix Museum, or having a tour with Le Train de Charlevoix, both are at walking distance from our hotel and pavilions. ALso there is many art galeries and lovely boutiques near the train station along with the wharf pier at the port of Pointe au pic. You will have more things to discover than!!

Fast check-in. Large clean room with river view. Comfortable king size bed. No micro-wave oven. Coffee maker with free coffee and tea. Small refrigerator.
Very nice free spa and exercise room. Good restaurant but slow service (they had 3 buses) but they knew ahead of time.

Room tip: Ask for river view
