Auberge des Eaux Vives

Certificate of Excellence

My husband I recently had the wonderful experience of a three night stay at a B @ B called Auberge des Eaux Vives in La Malbaie Quebec. Our host Sylvain and his wife Johanne place such attention to detail. The breakfasts are three course five star gourmet and the establishment is tastefully decorated and impeccably clean. We stayed in the La Brunante suite. Our room featured a king size bed, a couple of very comfortably reclining chairs a beautifully appointed full bathroom and a breathtaking view of the river. Sylvain was very helpful in making dinner suggestions and reservations for us and took the time to recommend some magnificent hikes and points of interest. Our holiday was wonderful but it was staying at Auberge des eaux vives that made our trip truly memorable.

We can say without question that this is the best B&B we have ever experienced over many years and countries. The setting is splendid, with river view just a couple of kilometers out of La Malbaie. The common areas and accommodations are decorated and furnished with style and high quality. Sylvain is a splendid host, meeting every need and exceeding every expectation. Johanne is a very gifted chef -- both for the breakfasts, but also in a nearby restaurant they own with a bistro menu. The breakfasts are multi-course and presented with Michelin all star quality and lovely low key music in the background. Access to a computer, and a wide range of movie dvds and CDs, and a well stocked library with books of local and regional interest are available. And on it goes. We have seen none better. Thank you, Johanne and Sylvain! Our visit with you in early September 2012 was truly memorable.

Room Tip: La Petit Ourse, really a two room mini suite.

Auberge des eaux vives is probably one of the best B&B you could find! Oustanding views, warm hosts and the best breakfasts you could ever had anywhere. You can see easily that the hosts give a lots of care into every detail, from the decor to the service they give. We really appreciated every part of our trip! Beautiful place, beautiful room, very warm! We also liked that the dining tables are for 2, so it's like if you were in a restaurant and you have the choice to socialize with other guests.

The other highlight of the stay was the quaint resto they own down the road, very reasonably priced and the meal was so delicious! We ate there two suppers in a row! We plan to go back soon. It is a great location as it's only 1-1.5 hrs away from Tadoussac and Baie St-Paul, and 15 minutes from all the restaurants of Pointe-au-Pic.

We thank Sylvain and his wife for making our stay very special and memorable.

Auberge des Eaux Vives is the rare instance where reality exceeds expectations. Oustanding views, warm hosts and easily the best breakfasts I have ever had anywhere. Beautiful kayaking is available literally next store. If you are looking to combine the splendor of the outdoors with the culinary excellence of the indoors this Auberge is the place.

This was absolutely the best B&B we have ever stayed at. It is 5 star without the snobiness, from the views, the linens, the decor, the facilites and oh the breakfasts! Sylvain was so attentive to our needs and we could feel all the hard work they put into making us feel special and at home. We stayed in the rondouillette room and found the king bed to be extremely comfortable, my husband is 6'3 and fit perfectly. We felt like we were in a hotel, but even better! We had a flat screen TV, a whirlpool in our bedroom and the softest robes. Again, it's all the little details that are hard to describe that doesn't compare to hotels. The view from our room and from the dining area is magnificent, the 4 course breakfast was perfection with every bite and then there's the 24 hr available coffee from the Nexpresso machine. We are the biggest coffee snobs and this coffee was superb, also Sylvain will make whatever specialty coffee you desire. What was nice is that the dining tables are for 2, so you have the choice to socialize with other guests. The other highlight of the stay was the quaint resto they own down the road, very reasonably priced and the best chowder and crab claws we ever ate. It was so delicious we ate there two suppers in a row and ordered the same meal. We plan to go back soon. It is a great location as it's only 1-1.5 hrs away from tadousac and baie st. Paul. We thank Sylvain and his chef wife for making our stay very special and memorable.

Hard to put into words the feeling you get as you walk into this beautiful inn, and then up the steps to a large lovely room with its spacious bathroom, both of which offering a stunning view of the St. Lawrence River, which is as wide as the sea in that part of the province. Lots of care given to every detail, original decor, immaculate and welcoming place. Heavenly and copious breakfasts are served with a gracious and friendly smile on the sunny terrace overlooking the river, with the sound of a brook running alongside the inn. Bed sheets were high quality and soft. Ideal place to unwind and be one with the surrounding nature. We are already planning a next trip, hopefully for a longer period this time.

Room Tip: La Brunante is the largest room. The view from it is stunning.

The location was excellent with a wonderful view of the St. Lawrence. The room was spacious and clean. The family were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious but may not suit everyone as there was absolutely no choice and no chance of seconds. Coffee was slow in arriving and had to be chased on occasions. Some people like to have a croissant and/or toast with their breakfast, but not here.

Thank you for your comment. We take good note of every observation.

I would like to make a little correction to your comment on breakfast. You are right, continental breakfast is not what we choose to do but we never refused to make toast or something different from our menu to people who ask for it.
Concerning coffee, the Nespresso machine is available 24h to every guest so they dont have to wait for it.

Thank you for your appreciation of our Inn.
