I was here for a meeting held in the auberge's boardroom. The room was very elegant and well-appointed with a little balcony overlooking the lake. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was fantastic. While it was definitely on the expensive side, the inn and the grounds are lovely.
The only negatives are the price of a meal at the restaurant. I'd suggest you eat somewhere else for the price.

Charming rooms. Great breakfast. AC worked fantastic. (It was hot as hades outside and muggy to boot). This is an Inn, in a small town in Quebec. IF you are looking for a 5 star, big city, hotel, you probably need to stay in Montreal.

2 major things to note - great great lake view and very relaxing stay, great breakfast!
It was a last minute trip we booked and the property almost lake front just a few steps away. Completely magical view of the lake and very private, quiet property to share special moments you can almost write a poem or paint there.

Rooms are not that great though, quilt is not too clean and if they rework on the rooms, I am sure they will be able to draw more visitors.

Breakfast is great, very natural ingredients something to look forward to everyday.

About 1.5 hours drive to Montreal it is out there, you gotta go there just to go there and enjoy the property and the lake, that's why I think they should work on the room more.

Perhaps we expected too much from an 'Inn'. Despite the 5-star pricing, something was still missing and I wouldn't go back. But I guess the enjoyment of such a quasi-luxury establishment depends on what you consider pricey or not.

The staff was friendly, welcoming and responded quickly to our (simple) requests. As the shower in our room was malfunctioning, we were moved to the adjacent one. The young ladies at the desk were helpful in telling us where to go for a stroll and everyone was attentive to the demands of our one-year-old boy. The restaurant staff was particularly friendly and, combined with the great food on the menu, made for an exceptional dining experience. We would definitely recommend without hesitation going to Ripplecove for its restaurant (less so for its rooms but more on that later).

The location is fantastic even though we couldn't fully enjoy the lakeside (some rain and cold wind blowing). The surroundings are quiet and we wish we could have spent more time lazing in the long chairs.

The main problem was in fact with the rooms themselves. Ours were of the luxury type (we had two rooms as we moved out of the one with a malfuntioning shower) and they were spotlessly clean. However, they were still quite small and the bathroom looked like it was out of a simple chalet and not from anything qualifying as 'luxury'. Basic amenities and furniture made us feel like the room was overpriced, like it was something out of a B&B and not a 4-diamond establishment. On the positive side, a working (propane) fireplace is something of a plus, something rare and unusual in a room except perhaps in mountain resorts. Soundproofing is something that just does not exist in an old building like this one and, luckily, very few guests were staying at Ripplecove when we did so no one was bothered with the noise. To give you an idea of soundproofing, I could hear the conversation of our neighbours from the hallway and I could hear our baby crying from reception. The presence of a good coffee machine in the room and a beautiful view on the lake were a nice touch. The balcony was small but functional (but we couldn't use it much because of the weather..).

There's nothing much to do at Ripplecove if you can't do winter/summer activities on the lake and therefore nothing much to justify high season pricing during the shoulder seasons. Some kind of discount would have been welcomed, especially as the restaurant and pub were undergoing renovation work which meant workers were going around the building with power tools and materials.

I didn't get to the spa but my wife enjoyed the body massage she received. In fact, she kept raving about it for the duration of our stay!

Overall, Ripplecove is certainly not a bad place for a romantic getaway and fine dining experience. It could be better (considering its price range) but a lot of the elements of a charming lakeside inn are present. More work on the rooms and some additional efforts in and around the inn could be done to make it more like a real luxury inn.

Room Tip: Luxury rooms (17-18-19) above the reception are not soundproofed and the bathroom is not on par with 'luxury'. However, the view is beautiful.

Thank you for taking the time to send us your comments regarding your recent visit to Ripplecove. Feedback is of the utmost importance to us. We thank you for your compliments about our staff and dining experience.

Yes, our main dining room and bar, Le Riverain, was undergoing a renovation. However, as you mention, the quality of your dining experience and service was still good. We apologize that you saw workmen occasionally on site. In a small countryside resort, we don't have the advantage of interior corridors for personnel as in large urban hotels.

Regarding your comment about activities on site, our bicycles were available to explore the nearby nature trail or the small country village. The tennis court was also open. We have rackets to lend. As well, the outdoor Jacuzzi overlooking the lake was open. It was still too early in the season to allow our guests to go boating safely. I appreciate that with a toddler, parents are not always free to truly enjoy the attributes of a lakeside country setting. We would have been happy to have arranged a certified babysitter for you, well known to the hotel. Or, we would have been happy to recommend off-site child friendly activities in the region.

The room that you rented was a deluxe category, and not a luxury category. Of course, such adjectives are subjective. We have always maintained a 4 diamond certification (CAA/AAA) for our accommodations and we are inspected every year. With oak floors throughout the rooms in that section of the hotel, it is true that a crying child would be easily heard. Usually, we recommend that our families stay in the larger suites with wall to wall carpeting, large bathrooms, separate sitting areas and immense balconies that overlook the lake and beach side pool area. But since it was shoulder season, and less busy as you indicated, we ultimately left the decision up to the guest.

It was a pleasure to receive you and your family at Ripplecove. The girls at the front desk fondly remember your little son.
Best wishes for a great summer season.

We were there in September to celebrate my partner's birthday. The inn is well managed and beautifully located. Our dinner was excellent and the wines are well priced. Our only complaint was the room. We were located at the top dormer room where we were very uncomfortable. My partner has difficulty with low ceilings and has problems with his breathing due to heart palpitations. We did ask to be relocated but there was a wedding event and were told nothing was available. He was up most of the night...we really should have left. Unfortunately we will never go back...try Hovey Manor next time.

Room Tip: Ask which room you are going to get when making your reservation at this inn.

Dear Fairsari from Westmount,

Thank you sincerely for your recent comments. All feedback is important to Ripplecove as we strive to meet all guests' expectations during their stay with us. We are sorry that your visit was not everything that you expected.

Thank you for your glowing comments about our dining room, location and overall management.

Regarding your room, it is unfortunate that it was literally the only room left in the entire hotel. We are always very diligent to inform our guests that this room does have a sloping ceiling different from every other room in the hotel. However, your reservation was made online and therefore, this did not happen. Our apologies to you. We have since taken this room off our online reservation inventory.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to comment. We wish you and your family a wonderful summer season!
