During a recent weekend break in the area, we ended up having both supper and breakfast at this restaurant. There is a very extensive menu, but that is not always a good thing. For supper I opted for the roast turkey dinner and sadly it did have the taste of a processed meal. The turkey was a strange texture, the gravy thick and heavy and tasting 'instant' more than homemade, and the stuffing tasting like it was out of a box. The meal had the feel of just a standard 'pub meal' and not the loving homecooked meal that the reviews promised.
However, breakfast was a different matter entirely! I had the Western Omelette on toast and it was amazing! As were the breakfast potatoes that came with it. And the baked beans I ordered on the side. Best breakfast I think I have ever had!
Having stopped into the restaurant a couple of times throughout the day to use the washroom or pick up brochures (we had parked the car here before setting off exploring), it was impossible to notice that there seemed to *always* be a line-up. It's worth trying to visit outside of normal times - e.g. we had a late supper on Saturday night (8ish) and it was not busy at all.
The restaurant has lots of seating and a lovely patio overlooking the Harbour, but they seem a a little understaffed and therefore seem to condense their seating. And despite the lovely weather this weekend, they didn't seem to be using the patio, which was disappointing.
Regardless, for that breakfast alone, we will be back!
