Description: Closed for the season. The Pearl is located between the picturesque fishing village of North Rustico and Cavendish Beach on Prince Edward Islands North Shore. Once you step foot into this eatery, it becomes apparent why it has become a destination restaurant not to be missed. There is a love of detail that shows up not only in the food, but in the Pearl's ambience as well. The Pearl strives towards excellence, supporting local artists, farmers, fishers and foragers with the philosophy that sharing a meal that is fresh, creative and visual in an inspired setting, is simply the way it should be.

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 16, 2012

We went there with our friends who have dined there many times in the past. We were not disappointed at all - everything was excellent and surpassed our expectations and we are regular fine diners. We loved the ambiance, our server was polite and helpful and the food was excellent! We will definatley be back next time we visit PEI! Maxine you have a wonderful operation there and the Pearl is a real treat to PEI!!

“Worth the drive”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 13, 2012

The Pearl is housed in a weathered cedarshake house out in the country and well worth the drive. Cozy outdoor seating areas for cocktails and eclectic, artistic interior decor meld. The service was caual but efficient. The menu based on the freshest items available was excellent. Five of us, including an 8 year old, had different dishes and we were all delighted. It is expensive but we felt fair value. A reservation is a necessity for this popular place.

“Great Food Nice People”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2012

When we go to The Montgomery Theatre we dine at The Pearl. Maxine is a wonderful host and very pleasant to deal with. We have always found our food to be outstanding. It is pricey but never disappointing in quality. If you are fortunate enough to find yourself in Rustico...do not miss out on this "pearl".

“PEI gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 1, 2012

....and no, it isn't a potato. Mum and Dad took us to The Pearl for a Saturday night dinner and what a delight. Carmen, our server, knows how to keep a table happy. Food excellent, wine smooth, dessert ... could have had two or more. A happy evening all around.

“Only the service was good”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 28, 2012

Normally, we dine at te Pearl 3 or 4 times each season. Last year, we noticed that there seemed to be an "unevenness" in the dishes - some very good, some not-so-good. Regardless, we've liked the atmosphere, so just kept going back. No more. Earlier this month, we had one of the more over-priced and bad meals in recent memory. We began with salads that were soggy with dressing and had some praline bits (or something equally crunchy and hard) in it - the contrast of soggy and hard was not a good one. Then, we ordered a seafood plate that included seared scallops and lobster meat. The lobster was so over-cooked that it was rubbery - and virtually tasteless; the scallops tasted as if they had been marinaded in bleach - truly bad. Since the restaurant was busy that night, we just kept quiet (we had to wait quite a bit for our meals to arrive and didn't want to wait for replacements). Usually, we speak up when either the food or the service is lacking - it's important for the owner to hear legitimate complaints - and we regret not having done so, but we just wanted to pay the bill and leave. We enjoy dining in the North Shore's restaurants as much as possible (the parking situation in Charlottetown is difficult!), but we will no longer dine at The Pearl Cafe. Sorry to have to remove it from our list. (The food merits a one star, but our server was very personable, hence, the two stars.)
