“Step back in time”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 26, 2013

Often we visit Green Gables, and enjoy our times when we run away from home and venture up to Cavendish leaving behind the worry then taking in a sunset on the beach.

“Picturesque”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 22, 2013

I am new to the book (at 21..) introduced by my girlfriend. Looks perfect, probably more touristy during the season but was genuine and a nice short (1km tops?) through winding woodland paths.

“Not my thing but my family loved it”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 1, 2013

Personally I never read the books or watched the shows/movies etc so I had zero interest in the place. That said, it was very picturesque and they did a nice job of explaining the various parts of the property as well as the history etc. I found it very touristy and unremarkable for the most part but my mother-in-law (who had read all the stories as a child) absolutely loved it so let that guide your choice of whether to visit or not.

“Checked the Box on my Wife's Bucket List”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 25, 2013

OK, now I can say I've been there and done that. Admittedly, the facility is well restored and presented, and they do efficiently and effectively move the crowds in, around, and through the various areas of the site. However, in the end, it's just a house, some out buildings, and a plot of land with trees, flowers, and grass.

Unless you are a Anne of Green Gables fan this is not something I'd recommend. Unless, of course, you wife wants to see it. :-)

“the sort-of must stop”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 2, 2013

If you come to PEI you really do need to pay homage to Anne of Green Gables by visiting this site, but try to come within the first half hour before the masses descend. There is always something surreal about a place dedicated to a person that never lived; the house is interesting because it depicts the setting from the book but what I enjoyed was wandering the paths around the home, the places that helped inspire LM Montgomery in the first place.
