The best things about Shining Waters are its location and the staff. We could walk to the site of LM Montgomery's home (although the home no longer exists, the site is still worth a visit) and her grave. We also could have walked to Green Gables house, but drove because we were going on to other sites. The staff was super friendly and nice. Also, they have passes to Green Gables and to Cavendish Beach, so you can get into those places at no charge. Be aware that the beach you can walk to is rocky, not the sandy beach. For that you have to drive down the road a bit.
The accommodations, however, were not so great. We stayed in the main inn building, so I cannot comment on the motel units or the cottages. It was like staying in someone's bedroom. Very cramped. Everything was outdated, dingy and not super clean. The window shades were torn, so they caught on the curtains when I tried to put them up or down. There was a window AC unit, so that was running right next to my bed all night. It was not a place I wanted to spend a lot of time in.
