“Great Day”
Reviewed September 7, 2013

We went to Shining waters on a Saturday in late season. It wasn't crowded so it was great. My three year old son loved the smaller water slides in the kiddie section. He loved the shaky bridges and the boat and car rides. The grandparents enjoyed much as well. We had a great day. I think this is a great alternative to Disney.

Just one suggestion though. My husband and I waited 15 minutes or more in low season for a double raft for the water slide. It seemed as though there were less double rafts and more singles. Those waiting for the single rafts waited half the time to go down the water slide. We heard a few people complaining.

Overall, we had a great day and would definitely go back.

“Where is the water park?”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

Shining waters states that it is a water park however there are hardly any slides at all! There was one overcrowded pool with one person watching. The rest of the park is randomly placed "attractions"

Julie,

Thanks for your feedback on the park and I'm sorry our facility didn't live up to your expectations. Shining Waters was never designed to be a pure waterpark like our sister park Magic Mountain. The theme park is divided into several themed areas of which our waterpark is one. Our goal is to create a safe, clean and family friendly theme park with a wide variety of attractions wet and dry. In fact Shining Waters is the largest theme park in the region and some of our most popular attractions are interactive dry elements like the Topsy Turvy Cabin or Bandit's Barnyard Petting Zoo or the Paddle Boats.

Our Waterpark contains 2 large raft rides including our signature 'Cannonbowl', 2 large body slides, a children's splash pad with three kiddie slides, tipping buckets and several spray elements and our latest addition last season, a 2700 square foot leisure pool. That one area of our park is the second largest water facility in Atlantic Canada after Magic Mountain. We are quite proud of what we have built over the last 8 seasons and we are continuing to expand. If you have any suggestions as to what our next great attraction should be we would love to hear them!

All the best.

“Good time!”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

We took our son to this park and thought he may have been to old to enjoy as he is a teenager but he had a blast on the water slides....we didn't really go around the park to be able to comment on the other rides and activities available but everything looked busy and enjoyable. The new pool beside the waterslides was nice and refreshing. You were able to bring in your own food and chairs to set up camp for the day which was very nice, there were also places to buy food and snacks if you chose to do that too. The only suggestion is there should be more chairs, loungers or picnic tables available around the waterslides to accomodate more people. Enjoyable day and for a great price.....

“Shining Waters Offers Lots of Water Fun for Children and Adults Alike!”
Reviewed August 29, 2013

Our family have taken part in the water fun Shining Waters has to offer for the last four years. If your family is planning on spending more than a day in Cavendish you may want to ask about the family pass that enables the family members to enjoy both Shining Waters/and Sandspit. I believe we paid approximately $200.00 for a week for a family of 4 and that enabled you to use both parks for unlimited visits. Shining Waters seems to bring out the child in not just our children, but parents as well. It has 4 different water slides (some more daring then others, and even parents scream on a couple of them), individual pool (s) (one that has recently been added to the park and I believe is only 3 feet high), the paddle boats, and as you stroll though you'll come across a few extras that are spread throughout the water fun, part of the park. The Roller Coaster although a fun addition to the park tends to be a little Rickety Rackety, sharp turns, that if your not careful ,could jolt our young ones necks, so hold on tight! Although there is a canteen, I believe the menu is limited to, hot dogs, hamburgers (that are pre packaged), chicken fingers and fries. You can buy items individually or as a combo and the combo's range from $5.50 to approximately $8.00 to include a drink. Although the Ice Creams are sold at a different kiosk they are well worth the jaunt over, the soft blend of vanilla and chocolate just, seems to add to the soleil of the day. The park is wide open and can certainly give families a work out if they are bogged down with bags, blankets (and you know) all the things we tend to bring. Extra drinks, snacks, fruit, and the little extras your children enjoy would be suggested and stored in a "pull along" cooler! lol Keep in mind the park offers loungers and sitting chairs however, depending on the day (how busy) the loungers/chairs get filled up quickly, so a blanket would be wise! Overall, the park is certainly one the children seem to love, lots of water fun, short of a beach! One suggestion I would offer to management would be to find alternative options to avoid two "waiting lines". Children have to wait in "one" line to get a tube (single or double) then after they get one, which can sometimes be a 10 to 15 minute wait, they have to wait in the actual water slide line. To our children, "waiting" is like a "life time!", remember the saying "Are we there yet!" Overall a fun experience for our family, and although the park could consider some "newness" we will return to the water fun Shining Waters has to offer!
