“Won't be a Return Visit for Us”
Reviewed September 25, 2009

Stayed two nights in the "Executive" Suite (we just wanted a kitchen). The air conditioner is located DIRECTLY beside the head of the person sleeping on the outside of the comfortable king bed. While we didn't need the air conditioner - the wind whistles all night were awful. Had to sit outside for WIFI.... and it was cold & windy.

Breakfast was spotty for us. The first morning was adequate and included boiled eggs. The second morning, there was much less offered - no proteins of any kind... yogourt, cheese or boiled eggs.

This property is on a corner field with no view or trees.

You can likely do better - altho those were our only nights in the area, so can't recomment elsewhere.

The people here are friendly and eager to please... the hair dryer in our unit didn't work and they had one for me to use within 1/2 hour.

Wonderful hotel! We booked in early May and found it difficult to get places right in Cavendish, so I found the North Winds...and are very glad we did!!

It's a 10 minute drive east of Cavendish, near the Brackley Beach entrance to the National Park. Also 15 minutes from Charlottetown and 30 from Summerside. Close enough to everything yet far enough away that it wasn't rushed.

The Inn itself is wonderful, clean, spacious, well maintained, great free breakfast, and definitely family friendly. It is owner occupied and run, which shows through in the quality of rooms. We stayed in a Housekeeping Unit, which provided 3 beds, one in a separate room, a full kitchen, TV, bathroom and lots of space.

The place was clean and looked new. Only issues were the unpowered air conditioner unit, which didn't cool the separated bedroom (we left our bedroom door open to stay cool), and the bugs that were found by the door (nothing serious, just a result of the sandy soil).

Amenities included a great hot/cold free breakfast, indoor pool, laundry room, internet (computer in main office), several BBQ's, and lots of free parking. Lobster Claw restaurant next door offers great home cooked meals.

I would return again if I'm in the area.

The North Winds is actually in Brackley Beach, PEI, not Charlottetown, but it was a lovely hotel. We spent four nights there. The staff is friendly and helpful, and relaxing is easy. We had a jacuzzi in our room, which was spacious and which had a great view. The continental breakfast they offer is one they go all out on, offering hot cereal (try the Red River, if you don't know the stuff!) and coffee, as well as bagels and fruit and cold cereal. The breakfast room can get a little claustrophobic, but that's my only complaint, and it's a minor one.

The beach is close to the North Winds. In fact, it's right in the middle of the island, so it's convenient to wherever you might want to go. I'd like to go back there.

we have stayed at this motel at least once a year for at least a weeks stay each time. there is very little to criticize {more protein offered at the continental breakfast} see, i told you. the owner and staff are friendly and more than helpful. the room is always neat and clean, the ac worked perfectly and the beds were comfortable. also always a quiet stay. the pool is serviceable {no great . vista but that was not why we use the pool}. the location is central to all activities.avoid the restaurant next to the motel, it is not affiliated with the motel. not a top quality place to eat. in conclusion, northwinds is a great quality at a good price.

The Northwind is a clean and comfortable hotel. They have a indoor heated pool, an adequate continental breakfast and a laundy. Several eating places are within walking distance and it is an easy drive to other places on the Island. We spent two nights here and had a nice time.

We stayed at the North Winds for a week and found it very enjoyable. It's a new hotel, a bit out of the way, but there are a number of restaurants/activities nearby. The room was exceptionally clean and large with new furniture and a comfortable bed. They include a continental breakfast which really hit the spot and was a good start to the day. You can rent bikes on the premises, and the hotel is located on a large plot of land you can walk around or do activities on. Hotel staff very friendly. We'd go back.

Located close to the Brackley Beach entrance to the National Park; about 10-15 min. from Cavendish, 25 min. from Charlottetown. There are a number of good restaurants nearby although not terribly close. (WARNING: There is a small restaurant next door called the Lobster Claw that we had a bad experience at; can't recommend it).

Stayed at this Motel two nights. Too remote for my liking; however, the rooms were large and clean and the bed was comfortable. Bathroom was spacious and clean. Towels and wash cloths were well used but always fresh. Motel is on a large piece of property and the surrounding grounds are mowed and kept clean. Parking for vehicles is convenient outside of rooms, so no problem with this. Window air conditioning unit was noisy and did not cool very well and our room got the afternoon sun so it was warm in the room and air conditioning unit was not cooling the room at night. We slept in a warm room and no way to open windows to let in some fresh air. Loved Prince Edward Island, but would choose to stay at a different motel if I return for visit.
