University student at the counter was very helpful and even drew a quick map to explain a tricky roundabout north of the town.

“A good place to start your visit to St. Jacobs”
Reviewed June 9, 2013 via mobile

St. Jacobs is a small community surrounded by well-kept, healthy looking farms. As you drive into town you might see a horse drawn small black carriage trotting along the side of the road and could think you have stepped back in time 100 years. To learn more about the local Mennonites a visit to the Visitor Centre on the main street is a must. For a small donation ($4 is suggested) you can watch a short video presentation about how these 'anabaptists' were persecuted and driven from their homes in Europe - mostly from Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland and their settlement in the U.S. and Canada over 500 years ago. Verynterestng story and quite fascinating that these Old Order Mennonites still live so simply and true to their roots.

“A must”
Reviewed June 5, 2013

A must if you are interested in the Mennonites, their culture, religion, traditions and their history including their European heritage. Do not miss the video they are showing downstairs! And please do remember to leave a small donation when you are done.
