If you're a local to Port Elgin or Southampton, you need not be told about Gerry's. Just looks like a hole-in-the-wall fast food joint, but it's absolutely a must-have if you visit this area.

Most people only order the french fries because they're just that good. Ignore the sizes and go down one size from what you normally order. You get A LOT of food. They also have the usual chicken fingers and burgers and what-not, but as long as you have some fries, you're getting your money worth. Wear loose pants and enjoy.

Don't feed the seagulls, and don't leave your food unattended, it will be gone. Seagulls are aggressive and will on occasion attempt to steal fries out of the hands of patrons.

One visit, and you'll understand why Gerry's is a landmark in Saugeen Shores.

Just order the fries. Eat them hot on the beach with vinegar, salt & ketchup. Made from real potatoes. Wonderful! Watch out for seagulls.

Gerry's is a great place on the beach - I've been there a couple of times and it's always really, really, really good chips.

They have three sizes, but it's pointless to view the boxes they have for examples - basically a small is huge, a medium is enough to feed more than a couple of people probably! My husband and I got a medium fries and a couple of foot longs. What's nice is that it's convenient - you can walk there from the beach, and there's even a little picnic table area that's just a a 2 min walk inland from the hut.

It's decent service (they look to always have local kids working there - who are always nice to us!) and decent pricing for what you get. The chips are quite possibly the best in Southampton (the lighthouse is pretty good too!!!!) and there's salt, pepper and lots of vinegar on the sidebar for you to dress them. They come in their little plate, but then also in a box for the massive chip overflow so it's easy to dress them up.

Definitely a place to return to, as I do love a good chip truck, but this is like an awesome chip hut!

Have eaten at Gerry's several times per year for the past 6-7 years. Amazing fries, good dogs and burgers - everything you'd expect from a deep-fried beachside restaurant. Thye even have the old fashioned mini french fry forks. Small playground with climbers and swings for the kids, public bathrooms/changerooms around the side. Right at main parking area to excellent beach. Leave the diet plan at home and indulge, but keep in mind that food cooked this good - and fresh - can take a few minutes. Prices a tad higher than you'd pay at other places, but it's all about location and atmosphere. Check out their facebook page, and long live Gerry's!!!
