While traveling through Ontario on our Circle Tour of Lake Superior we heard about this restaurant from a worker at another stop. Upon arriving in this tiny picturesque village we easily found the restaurant. We found a room for the night at a delightful bed and breakfast and then walked a short block to the restaurant. Food was delightful and the view was beautiful. They featured local art work that was for sale. The crowd was a mix of tourists and locals. Service was friendly, but slow.

Drove our motorcycle around Lake Superior. When we crossed into Canada, the border patrolman asked of course why we were coming into Canada, after we told him we were doing the Circle tour, he told us we must stop at Serendipity which is why we did, even though it was a few miles off the main highway. Glad we did...the Blueberry shortcake was one of the highlights of our 2 week tour. It was not only delicious but HUGE!! It came on a dinner plater & could have easily served 4 people. The dessert consisted of fresh blueberries with a brandy sauce served over homemade pound cake & topped with homemade whipped cream. The pound cake absorbed the sauce perfectly without falling apart. Not sure how often this dessert is served as the blueberries were in full season (August) when we were here.

The lack of acceptable eating facilities in this village is enough to keep one from staying in this remote area.

The food was very good. But also very, very expensive. The restaurant is lovely but the service slow and somehow lacking in 'caring'. It was as if we were bothering them by being there. Odd feeling really. But yes. The food is good. But honestly, save yourself the money and go to the town of Schreiber (oh so close) and go to the grocery store there and go for a picnic. It's Lake Superior after all!

We had planned to make this an overnight stop. What a pleasant surprise. The Inn room was really super. The meal was outstanding. Missed the trout because they only get so many portions a day. Wife had prime rib, and I had shrimp bolognese. Both were very good. Soup was outstanding. We decided to spend a second night. We both had the trout on the second night and it was really the best I had ever had. While it is in the middle of nowhere, If you're going this way I would recommend both the cafe and inn to anyone. Box breakfast was a very unique form of continental breakfast. Nice blueberry muffins, yogurt, and of course coffee and tea. Presentation was spectacular.
