Blue Moon is AWESOME - the Best of the Best! This was our first experience staying at a cottage and it was exceptional! We only stayed for a weekend, but we have already booked for next year!!! We found Blue Moon to be the perfect place for us. It is relaxing and private. The view from our deck was astounding. Our cottage ( Lake View) was very clean and well organized. I will definitely recommend Blue Moon to anyone who wants to stay at a cottage!

What a place, Maples has everything you could possibly need and more.
Clean and well equipped you only need to bring food, drink and beach towels. We mentioned in passing that we had forgotten to pick up some wine and the next day a very nice bottle was given to us by the owner. A lovely touch that was much appreciated.
2 bedrooms that sleep 5 plus a sofabed for 2. The beds are comfortable and spotlessly clean.
Living room has fantastic views over the lake and just in case you get bored a large flat screen TV and surround sound.
Kitchen has everything from coffee maker to dishwasher, an assortment of pans and oven trays to wine glasses and corkscrews. Even kitchen towels and washing detergents are supplied.
The hot tub and sauna were a perfect end to a busy day on the lake, where we made good use of pedal boats and kayaks. We enjoyed having our own fire pit to sit round on a night watching the shooting stars go by. One night we were even joined by a family of raccoons.
We could go on and on about how brilliant this place is but our kids said it all when they said they would rather be here than the theme parks in Orlando!!!!!
We have already booked to go back.

My family and I (wife and son aged 6) are from the UK and were looking for a location where we could sample a bit of the "outdoor lifestyle" for which Canada is reknowned (combined with a stay in Toronto) and thanks to the internet, I came across this gem!
We stayed in The Maples Cottage for 4 nights from 20/7/09 and from the moment we checked in, we knew we had made a mistake in only staying for 4 nights!
The facilities at Blue Moon (both in the cottages and recreational) were fantastic and we all loved the canoeing/kayaking on the lake and Matthew (my son) had an absolute ball playing on the water toys provided - although I confess to being worn out from giving him a lift up on to these for the most part!
Really hope to visit again next year but if fate transpires against us, I will most definately look to return in the not too distant future.
Fantastic!

What a treasure!!! We loved being at Blue Moon and have already booked for next year. We are a Canadian family that has lived in different countries for the past 20 years but each summer we return to Canada and take a vacation with our extended family. We have stayed at different cottages and resorts in Canada all while looking for the perfect place. It was only when we discovered Blue Moon that we finally found it. It is everyone’s favorite place – in any country! It is such a relaxing and private environment to enjoy your holiday. Indoors and outdoors there is something for every age and that says a lot because the age range of our group is from 9 to 89! The cottages are really clean and it is great to have all of the supplies and equipment that you could ever want. The lake is fantastic for swimming, boating (free), and fishing. The luxury cottages have large flat screen TVs, hot tubs, saunas, internet..... This was our second summer at Blue Moon and even though it is perfect - they continue to find ways to make unexpected but wonderful additions (Saturn was a big hit!). It really is an amazing place!!!

Hello, DISCLAMER - this was my first cottage experience but i did a great deal or research before i paid for this getaway. so i'll start from the beginning. Paid for the high noon cottage, when we got there i was pleasently surprised at the cleanliness of the place. this place is booked almost all year round and i expected it to have some drawbacks interms of cleanliness but it was very clean and organized, from the dishes to the floor to the bathroom and bedrooms... all clean. and they had a huge plasma screen to boot. lost of boats and canoes to take out onto the lake. Firepit was amazing for smores, great view. very friendly owners. badminton and airhockey was pertty cool. the view was amazing. The have free wifi. There were 4 of us so the first two had cold showers and then the rest had warm normal showers. we got a tour of the "Maple cottage" on the property and it was breathtaking. thats probably where i'll go next.

First, I would like to say that my husband and I stayed in this place in 2004 (in Chalet cottage that time) and we had a fabulous time. It was very quiet, beautiful. Right on the lake, great scenery, very comfortable and relatively clean cottage. However, our stay in April 2009 in Shangri La turned out much differently. This time we went with our kids. My daughter and my husband both suffer from dust allergies. For the most of the 4 night stay they caughed and sneezed. We still managed to have a pretty good time. The toys they had there for kids were great. Air hockey table was wonderful. I most definitely wanted to return to this place in the future, but I wanted to be sure something can be done about dust. I wrote to the owner privately about the dust issue not wanting to publicly dampen the reputation of this otherwise charming place. I am actually pretty hard to displease, but in this case the health of my family was at stake. As a result of my sincere efforts to help them improve the place they told me (via emails) that we are not welcome back to their resort. This saddened me, esspecially because we idealized this place for so many years. So, the least I could do, after recommending this place to my friends for so many years, is to warn people with allergies to be aware when going to Blue Moon Retreat, most specifically Shangri La. Other cottages have air filtering systems, according to the owners, however, not the most expensive Shangri La. So, there you have it. Yes, it's pretty and cute, but buyer beware if you suffer from dust allergies. Also, beware of giving construcitve criticism to the owners if you would like to return to the place.
