“MARVELOUS LOCATION FOR ALL FIRE FIGHTING VETERANS AND AFFICIANADOS”

Canadian Fire Fighters Museum
Ranked #10 of 20 things to do in Port Hope
Attraction details
Reviewed January 28, 2016

Here you will find one of the very best displays and exhibits covering all aspects of fire fighting down through the decades from the 1800s ...
This important museum opens in the better months from late May through October and charges no admission although a donation would be most gratefully appreciated ...
Recently the museum announced it had received a very large donation of hundreds of high quality vintage artifacts from the now closed Ontario Fire College which will greatly extend their current collections and displays, allowing them to create even more fine new exhibits for visitors to view ...
These new additions will then give the museum one of the largest fire fighting displays in all of Canada ...
Additionally, they have a most interesting gift shoppe offering an assortment of collectibles, toys and clothing related to the fire fighting occupation ...
Check their webpages in advance to see just what you will find there ...
You will really enjoy a stop here and will definitely not be disappointed, guaranteed.

We have toured this exhibit a few times now and enjoyed more each time. The history and equipment of the fire fighters profession comes alive here and is a must to understand the pride and commitment of those who have served or are serving us.

Great time looking at the many fire extinguishers from old to new.

The trucks were cool to look at.
The staff were very friendly.

I thoroughly enjoyed the informative historical exhibits on firefighting and my grandson was thrilled by the interactive exhibits that allowed him to be like a firefighter himself! Would love to see this attraction get a better location to do justice to the amazing collection of firefighting equipment and history.

We discovered this gem during Doors Open Northumberland. I'll stick to logistics since others have covered material in the museum. Admission is by donation. Parking is easy and close to entrance. All one level - suits those with mobility issues (not wheelchairs) Most of it is indoors - so it makes a good rainy day activity. Plan to spend 30-60 minutes - depending on how much detail you want. Very interesting to see what firefighters actually carry and how they use it. Fascinating. We learned a lot.
