A great place for a bit to eat. Food is always tasty and staff is always wonderful. This is always a place we stop for either breakfast, lunch or dinner.

I was very lucky in my visit on the day I went as well as choosing the curried chicken. I was so delicious Im still thinking about it. We were a family of 7 small children, teenagers, senior and adult. All the kids meals were reasonable and they finished each of their meals. Visitor to Port Elgin yearly and first we visited Aunt Mabels. We will be sure to make that for sure stopover each and everytime we go. Will have to try their breakfast .

Visiting from the UK recently, we had breakfast at Aunt Mabel's and though it was absolutely fantastic. A great choice of combinations, reasonably priced and cooked to order quickly and accurately. The service and ambience were great. Truly a breakfast not to miss!

I have given this restaurant a few visits always hoping that improvements have been made to the service. My most recent and final visit began with an order of a 16 dollar hungry man breakfast. Likely the most expensive breakfast in the country. Instead of receiving 2 bacon, 2 sausage and 1 peameal with the usual uncooked home fries, I received only two peameal. It happened to be fathers day and I wanted nothing more than a couple strips of greasy bacon. After informing our server of the mistake, she spent two minutes trying to convince me that I was mistaken rather than try and remedy her error. Realizing that my chances of savoring some traditional bacon were quickly narrowing, I proceeded to negotiate some of the food on my plate in an attempt to obtain two pieces of bacon. She finally returned to the kitchen only to come back with an empty plate asking me to return some of the Peameal directly from my plate. "just use your fork!" she says. Fortunately for the person who likely received the order moments later, I had not yet used the utensils. In the end I got two pieces of bacon and 1 peameal with my full priced hungry man breakfast. The peameal happened to be delicious and I found myself wishing that I hadn't tried so hard to receive what I initially ordered and paid for

If you are near Port Elgin, try to stop at Aunt Mabels on the south end of town. Excellent home cooking in a friendly local restaurant. This is a hangout for the locals and gets quite busy when the tourists arrive in summer. We typically go for breakfast - the bottomless coffee is very good; they use real potatoes for the home fries; decent portion sizes. Many tables are beside the large windows - which look out into the parking lot. It is a consistently great local restaurant.
