if it wasn't for the Port Colborne Visitor Centre, I would never have found Arts Place on King Street in Port Colborne.

The Visitor Centre is nearby the first bridge. After leaving the bridge, it's at our first left. There is ample parking there. It's situated in an old house that looks quite attractive!

When I entered inside it, a lady welcomed me. I asked for a map and she gave me two of them, different from one another. She was able to give me a lot of info about the Canal Days. I left happy with all that information.

A plaque indicated that this house existed since 1852. It used to be the Humberstone Hall , a Municipal Hall Building for 118 years for the former Humberstone municipality. Quite neat!

As you can see from the picture, the City of Port Colborne has made good use of a surplus stone building when they placed the visitor centre here. The quaint stone structure has been completely redone inside and is chock full of helpful pamphlets and giveaway maps, not just for Port Colborne, but also for surrounding areas and for the province of Ontario. The people working in the centre were very helpful and informed. Even the washrooms are lovely, clean and accessible. Great place, with a cute café across the street and a gorgeous display of flowers in the public gardens behind it.

The Visitor Centre is in a historic building - the old town hall (Humberstone Hall) built in 1852. The exterior of the building remains intact but the interior has been modernized. The centre has tourist information for both local, regional and some provincial destinations. If you are heading to Niagara-on-the-Lake or Niagara Falls there is lots of information here for you in addition to material on Port Colborne itself. The staff is knowledgeable and very willing to help. There are two washrooms in building and they are well maintained.

This is THE place to find lots of information about Port Colborne including tourism and business. It's well worth the stop for travellers especially to pick up a copy of the Port Colborne Tourist Guide and map.

he building is the vintage Humberstone Town Hall that has been renovated, has lots of parking and a Canada Post mailbox! IT is conveniently located on Highway #3 / Main Street one block west of the Welland Canal at the first (Mellanby St) traffic light.

When visiting Port Colborne, stop at the visitor center on Main St. to get first hand information about the region and the best places for whatever your interest. Staff are knowledgeable about the region and the facility is first class. A welcoming start to a great discovery.
