“An excellent experience!”
Reviewed September 13, 2011

This was our first visit to Muskoka. We stayed in the Driftwood2 cottage for the week of Aug 29 which had the benefit of a lakefront view and a screened in porch. We had a fantastic time - the food was excellent and the view of the lake was spectacular - the Bryants treated all of the guests like family - evenings were always enjoyable with music, boat rides, you name it. We were a stone's throw from Port Carling and about 1/2 hr from Bracebridge - lots to see and do in both. We would definitely come back again. Our only regret was that we only booked one week!

This was our first visit to the Shamrock and it won't be out last. Our whole family had a great time. My two sons 5 and 2 yrs didn't want to leave and neither did their parents. We stayed in the Kelly House which was a loft style detached cottage over looking the lake. It was clean and perfect for a family of 4 or more. The kids enjoyed the Kids Club program while we were able to relax by the lake. The beach is great for young kids because of the shallow walk out. The food was good and freshly prepared. Tim is a great host. We liked that the Shamrock is family run and not too large. It is a full service resort, but it felt like we were staying at a cottage except it came with all the extras you wouldn't get from just a cottage rental. My 2 year old son keeps telling us he wants the "brown house" which is the colour of the Kelly house cabin where we stayed at the resort. We will be back for sure.

When we get a response like yours we hope everyone who reads it is looking for a place like Shamrock lodge. You have described the lodge and what is has to offer to a T. For most family's with small children it is important to know about the Kids Klub and the safe sandy beach we have. This way MOM and DAD can really relax!!!! Thanks for your wonderful review and look forward to seeing you and your family again. Tim and family....

Before booking, I came to Trip Advisor and read all the reviews. The pictures were beautiful and the lodge just sounded to good to be true! I emailed the Lodge with some questions and Stu responded. His response was almost immediate, which impressed me immensely! We booked that same evening. If we had any concerns, they were quickly put to rest when we arrived. The Bryant family and their crew were over the top amazing! From the service of the staff, to the activities both planned and available, to the most delicious meals we've ever had, clean rooms and common areas, everything was fantastic!! We all enjoyed our stay, including the girls...they had lots of things to do if they wanted. Our youngest took a liking to the hammock after a day on the water! Our only 'con' during our stay were the beds. They were a bit too hard for our liking, however, that was only a minor blip.
Althought, all the staff were wonderful, I would like to call out some of the staff that we came into contact with for their amazing service;
-Stu, for being responsive to our questions and always available to assist.
-Caroline was our waitress for most of our stay and she was AWESOME!! Her attitude and down to earth demeanour was a refreshing difference in comparison to other high end resorts
-Tim, for your tireless attention to detail, personally introducing yourself to everyone and then remembering all the names, for taking the time to take us out on the sunset cruise, etc. I often wondered when you slept...if you slept at all....lol !! You and your family are awesome!
- Chef (didnt get the name) the simplicity of the meals you created was compounded by how utterly delicious they were!! From the steak and ribs on the Friday night, to the Pork Tenderloin and the yummy soups and salads! The desserts were to die for...the cherry crepes with icecream, the lemon poppy cake, the apple crumble...yummmmmmm. Oh...and who can forget the coffeee!! I normally just have one cup a day, but I found myself drinking 2 or 3 cups...it was THAT good!

Our over all experience was a great one and we are trying to figure out a way to return next year!

Thank you for everything!!

Dee and Joe Geraghty

Everything you could ask for in a family resort -- comfortable accommodation right on the lake with beautiful views. Fill your day with a variety of organized activities or just relax on the beach. Big play area for kids and special activities just for them. The food is excellent and the staff is very friendly. The owners go out of their way to make you feel welcome and ensure that you enjoy every minute of your stay. Only 10 minutes from Port Carling with a very good chance of seeing some deer along the road. Will definitely stay at the Shamrock the next time we are in Muskoka.

My Family and I have been visiting shamrock lodge for the past four summers. It is my kid's favourite part of the entire summer, if not the entire year. I love it because I finally get a break. I have to do nothing - no cooking, no cleaning, and the resort is small enough that I can easily see that my kids are safe and happy from wherever I am. I actually read two novels this past visit.

The Shammy is a small resort with a laid back feel. The Bryant's are exceptional hosts that treat you like family. The food is awesome and there is lots of it. The kids are entertained for most of the day. There are plenty of fish in the lake so my husband is happy. I definitely recommend it.

It has been fantastic, of course the sun makes everyone happy. We are glad you all had an amazing time and we look forward to seeing you and your family again. What sets Shamrock apart from other resorts is that it's family owned and run. It's not a huge resort, and we consider that a plus. The family gets to know you by name almost instantly, and you are well treated for your entire stay. Staff are friendly and helpful, too.

Hi Dale, Thanks for wonderful review. As you know we do try to get to know everyone here on a first name basis, and the reason for that is we want our guests to feel like they are visiting the Bryants cottage rather than a big hotel. It has the warm fuzzy homey feeling. And i think that is what most people are looking for. We try to provide the best VALUE for the guest and the personal touch is a bonus... Thanks again Dale. Our family travels from Boston, St. Louis, Michigan and Toronto for what we refer to as "the best week of the year" to Shamrock every August. We have been coming more than 8 years and every year is great and every year it is even better. If that is possible. The Bryant family makes us feel more than welcome , actually we feel like we are part of their family. Our kids have so much fun and we relax. We run, play tennis, waterski and just plain relax everyday. There are many activities we love and look forward to, for example, the Bird Show or a trip out on the boat to tour the lake. Everything about the trip is perfect for us. As soon as we drive away, there are always tears, then the inevitable question , "How long until we go back to Shamrock?"
