Greeted at the door with hello.. Table for four? Menu or no? She meant do you want a LA carte or all you can eat. We didnt understand so said yes we want menus. Long island ice tea was actually rum and coke but I'm easy going and didnt complain. After we ordered amd repeated ourselves several times, another server came over and confirmed the details of our order a few minutes later. Pop glasses for kids were small and theres no free refills. Food was average except for chicken. It was a paper thin battered overcooked to leather texture. Realized too late to complain. Too polite daughter didnt mention it and ate everything else instead. We had bento boxes. My salmon was ok but very tiny. Gyoza was beyond gross. Tried to pay with debit but they dont offer it and instead encourage you to use their personally owned high fee ABM. Not impressed.. we used visa. Overall, there's tons of better alternatives for Japanese. Don't bother.

I came here with a girlfriend for lunch one day. The heater had broken down so the restaurant was freezing. Regardless we were served by friendly waiters. They gave us an iPad and took our drink orders but didn't explain how to order using the iPad. We kind of guessed our way through the ordering and hoped for the best. When food started coming to our table we knew we ordered correctly, but I'm not sure that's the best customer experience? Hoping that you'll get food? Anyways the food was average, some things came cold. When we asked for cheese cake the lady said she had it for us in the back and she'd bring it out when we finished our food but when we finished our food they had run out of cheesecake. Probably won't go here again.

Service was slow, wait staff kept forgetting what we ordered. Surly staff, Felt hurried, like they wanted us to leave. Nothing special.

I guess after a couple of new competitors opened up in the area, offering "ipad-type" ordering systems, Makimono felt that they needed to also jump on this craze.

It took a long time to scroll through all the options on the ipad, and it was difficult to change the amounts of each item, once selected. We hadn't even finished looking over the menu, when servers started bringing dishes to our table. We hadn't even placed our order yet! They were very confused, and couldn't even figure out which table ordered what.

When we finally placed our order, it took a long time before our food started showing up. Many of the hot items were not hot at all. We ended up only receiving about half of what we ordered. When we told the waitress, she said she checked with the kitchen and there was nothing outstanding on our order! So we had to submit a second order for the items we didn't get. That took another 45 minutes. There were also items showing on our ipad (on the ordered items list) that we did not order (nor did we receive). We still ended up not receiving many items we ordered but just ran out of time and had to leave. We paid for AYCE, but that's not what we received.

When we told our server about the mix-ups and confusion, she said they must be having problems with their wi-fi connections. That was a poor excuse. Clearly their ipad ordering system messed up everything. Other tables were also having issues with mix-ups and missing items. The restaurant wasn't even that busy...only about 60% full.

We were never asked if we wanted anything to drink. We had to flag down a waitress, as most of them seemed to be purposely looking away so as to avoid being called over.

The food was generally good, as it has always been. However, the ipad system is terrible, and just adds extra time and frustration to an otherwise good experience. Bring back the paper check-lists and menus with descriptions....they worked just fine.

Arrived to a clean exterior, walked inside and observed a nicely decorated reception area.
From there, things went down hill.
Waited an extended period at the hostess stand. After being seated, thought things were going to turn around as the drink orders were taken and served promptly. The meal order was taken like some sort of non interactive, write it down sort of process. No comments, no suggestions.
Suddenly, three appetizers (soup and salad) are served. When asked why, "because". Oh, really? "because", that is the best you can do?
Entrees are served and my wife immediately notices an issue as she is highly allergic to raw carrots. Three conversations and 13 minutes later - "oh, they are cooked". Like, who cares now, the food is cold.
No attempt to correct for the issue, prepare the dish again without the carrots (by the way, the dish is now cold anyway).
No table check.
No offer to refill beverages (at any time during the visit)
No clearing of dirty dishes.
Just comes and presents the bill.
No attempt to offer dessert, additional drinks like coffee: like nothing.
Oh, just when you think the issues are over, server comes back with the credit card unit. When the unit fails, she then decides to disassemble the unit at our table - pulling off the back, removing the batteries, etc.
No thank you for coming; no closing comment at the door either.

There was definite high quality in the preparation and presentation of the food. The dining room was clean and comfortable. So it wasn't all bad. I've been to this restaurant in the past and never had such a disappointing experience.

But the service sucks. No personality, No interaction, No table service. Like where do they find these servers? Could have got better service at Burger King.

Oh, to top it off, attempted to go Friday at 4:00 PM, only to find the doors locked. Nothing on the door or the restaurant website stated anything about being closed at that time. FYI - Call ahead before you go.
