Mono Cliffs is a very nice higher end Australian restaurant. The place is not very big but the atmosphere is very nice. They have an outdoor patio and a small pub in the basement called "Peter's Pub"
The food was very tasty. I simply had an app for lunch "smoked trout, potatoe latke and pickled onion slaw". I have to say, it was perfect for a meal and very very tasty. The menu is on a chalk board and it is not big so you have to be ready for not a big selection. All the food looked delish... and apparently the menu changes quite often. I would recommend this restaurant for couples, friends and older kids... not so much for little ones unless they are easily entertained.

Our party of three had the Crab Cakes, Chicken Liver Pate, Braised beef Short Ribs, Arctic Char, Meat Tourtiere, and Bread Pudding with Banana and Butterscotch. Everything, especially the service, was amazing. Highly, highly recommended for Torontonians to make the drive. The price range of all our dishes were $8.95 to $17.95!

We love to visit the Mono Cliffs Inn for the cozy atmosphere, gourmet food and the fabulous pub keep. Wayne is a welcoming pro with many years of experience in fine dining and cocktails. The restaurants young chef never fails to provide a diverse menu of outstanding gourmet selections. My favourite dinner is the prime rib with Stilton au jus and parsnip puree. In the summer, we visit the patio and enjoy dining under the tree. The consistency of the food and service keep us coming back and am pleased to share this hidden treasure with all.

We recently dined at the Mono Cliffs Inn, a group of friends who were fortunate enough to book the "Cellar" room.
It's a private space alongside the Peter Sellers Pub (more on that in a moment). You are literally, and wonderfully, surrounded by a large selection of well priced, and quite outstanding, Aussie vintages. It's a great environment in which to experience the exceptional service that you will soon associate with the MCI!
On this particular night our host was Theresa, with a few visits from the Cliff's owner, Carole... as well as Wayne, the pub master and, frankly, the master of hospitality magic at the MCI.
Theresa was a wonderful, and thoughtful, guide to both the wines and the menu... In both cases she "hit it out of the park", with superb recommendations that left every one of the seven of us "wowed".
Carole's Aussie heritage, and her Aussie charm, showed through with the most succulent rack of lamb this side of Tasmania!
The barbecued pear salad spoke to the care that the chef obviously takes in making this not only a great meal, but a truly memorable one. The Arctic char, with seared scallops, spoke to an appreciation of tender preparation. The escargot showed this is a menu as diverse and refined as it is tasty!
The bottom line, this is a warm hearted gourmet meal, in a tiny village, just a few minutes drive from the Hockley Valley (and about ten minutes further from Orangeville)... It really is outstanding!... But wait, there's more!
Drum roll... I mentioned Wayne, and no review of the Mono Cliff's Inn is complete without a hearty endorsement of the star attraction, Wayne, and the 'Peter Sellers Pub"... this is where he holds court, bringing together locals and visitors in a tiny, yet generous space... where old friends and new friends are indistinguishable, sharing tables and benches and stories and (plenty) of smiles... I have never known such a warmly social space, and it's entirely due to Wonderful Wayne!... Seriously it's worth the drive to experience his hospitality alone!!
But, in the ideal world, there's room for it all... a drink and a light bite with Wayne ... and then a wonderful gourmet experience with the rest of this very special team... Or perhaps eat first and then head downstairs to the pub to round out the night.
I mentioned we ate in the private cellar room, and it's great... But equally good is the main dining room upstairs, this is the heart of the MCI... so whether you are "upstairs" or "downstairs" ... I can guarantee this will be a meal, and a good time, to remember... Get in your car and head there now!
