“Make a reservation”
Reviewed June 3, 2013

Very good food but make sure that you have a reservation before going, even mid week. The food is a bit more pricey but worth it. The location and atmosphere could use some improvement. It is located in a strip mall and the tables are a bit cramped and lack style

“A great addition to Orangeville”
Reviewed May 20, 2013

The owners previously had a restaurant in Orangeville and after a few years away, returned and started Forage which is much better than their previous restaurant. They are open for lunch and dinner six days a week, which must be hard on them, but is wonderful for their fans, as it is always busy and often packed.
Matthew loves to experiment with what is in season and Orangeville is rich in a wide assortment of vegetables, seasonal fruit, beef, fish. In the cold times, his Beef stew is one of my favourites, but I also enjoy any of the fish dishes, tapinade, chicken curry.
Wendy's desserts are to die for and if I had to pick favourites it would be
Key Lime pie and her chocolate creations.
The noise level gets pretty high as their aren't any accoustic tiles, so beware, if that bothers you.
You can also take out or have a function catered.

“One of the best restauarant experiences ever!”
Reviewed April 30, 2013

On every level, Forage is an outstanding establishment. The husband and wife owner/chef team bring the highest levels of expertise and artistry to all aspects of this restaurant. Whether it is the freshly baked bread and home made tapinade, the soups, mains or fresh pies or creme caramel, it is top notch. I have introduced many people to this restaurant and all with who I share it with rave. There is an attention to detail not just in the food, but in the service, the linen serviettes, the silver aware and even in the draft blocker they have installed. Hats off to Mathew, Wendy and the whole staff.

I was at Forage for diner tonight,
"Finally got in"... I have tried a few times last minute but they are always quite full..
That tells you something right there.
It was a really nice atmosphere..
There was a really good pianist, and the hostess even belted out a couple of songs.
Great voice and really unexpected..
Plenty of wines to choose from and well described from light to full bodied..
I chose the Barolo... You can't get that by the glass anywhere.
As for the food!!!! Delicious!!! :)
My wife had the Calamari, very tender.
I started with the mussels.. Nice and plump with a tomato broth that had a hint of Pernod...
For our mains.. The beef tenderloin was incredible. And the combination of spice and flavors in my wife's Gado Gado dish was very unique...
I can see why everyone wants to dine there.
There was a great feel to the restaurant..
We chatted a bit with all the servers...
They have great personalities and work awesome together as a team...
I think I am going back tomorrow for a burger that I'm hearing rave reviews about...

“A welcome eatery in a small town”
Reviewed April 15, 2013

Orangeville is not noted for its restaurants so Forage is a welcome addition. The menu is not extensive but offers some nice choices for any palate. From beef stew to healthy saled fare the food was very good and the server friendly and efficient. Pricing is very reasonable and the portions are sensible and nicely presented. The only drawback and it is minor . . . the chairs and seating could be improved to make the customers more comfortable and less cramped, as the spacing is pretty tight. Overall . . a good meal and we will return.
