“The Best Fun!!!”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

We had so much fun riding the streetcars! Also, we enjoyed looking at the displays. Ice cream was delicious. I especially enjoyed the volunteers that told many good stories about the streetcars history present (used for many movies and commercials) and past. We were in the Toronto area for several days and this was my favorite of all the places we went to.

“Old Streetcars Galore”
Reviewed July 12, 2013

A friend and I visited this museum on a weekday afternoon. The parking lot wasn't even a third full, and we had lots of room to wander around and plenty of space to ride on and explore the lovingly-restored streetcar and interurban coaches.

Only two coaches were operating on the day of our visit, a restored open side streetcar and a closed 1923 streetcar, both from the Toronto Transit Commission. The friendly volunteer staff alternated running the two from the restored Rockwood station loop through a hardwood forest to the restored Meadowvale station loop a kilometre or so at the other end of the line. Departures are approximately every 20 minutes.

The Meadowvale station loop includes a rock garden, pond, and an ice cream stand in a refurbished Red Rocket style TTC streetcar. While we did not try the ice cream, I heard many other visitors exclaiming how good it was.

The volunteers seemed to be fully enjoying themselves, especially engaging the young children in questions and answers about streetcar history and operation.

The museum trackage is laid upon the roadbed of the old Toronto to Guelph interurban line.

Many of the interburban and streetcars at the museum are movie stars, with the site and its equipment being used for many period movies, television shows, and commercials. The equipment is sometimes trucked to Toronto to provide an urban background.

There is a snack stand inside the welcome centre, featuring hot dogs, sausage, chips, and pop. There are also several areas with picnic tables available. There is a small gift shop section featuring books, magazines, videos, and small gift items.

This is a museum the whole family will enjoy, the children just for the fun of a ride on rails, and the adults to appreciate the historic aspects, the beautifully restored equipment (and some still in process), and the memories the visit will evoke.

“Great place for kids who love trains”
Reviewed May 27, 2013

This place has some very loving restored trains and you can actually go for a ride on a great many of them. Take a tour, donate and best of all the Fall colours as you go through their railway is amazing.
