We have been to this restaurant 3 times in one year. We have eaten lunch in one of the dining rooms at the front, had drinks on the patio and dinner in the other dining room at front, and most recently had the Dickens Buffet. The best meal and service experience was the dinner. The soups and salads are wonderful, with fresh "home grown" ingredients. Portions are more than adequate, and prices reasonable. We are not usually "buffet" people, and were just going to have a lunch when we went to the Inn on the 21st of December, but once we saw the offerings on the buffet, we decided it was worth a try, for $19.99 per person. We did not like sitting (as a couple) in the larger room at the back, and felt a bit like we were in a fishbowl with other large groups of people around us. (we did have a reservation). It was also very cold! The salad and soup bar was my favorite part of the whole meal. There was 2 hot options.. turkey or beef. Since we were just a few days away from Christmas we decided to have the beef, which was a mistake as it was very overdone. When our server asked us how we were enjoying the meal, we told her the beef was dry. She said "Yes, I noticed that.. its too bad as Prime Rib is one our specialties" and that was that! The dessert table was replenished regularly, and even though we were there at the tail end of the buffet, we still had more than enough choices. Unfortunately, the 2 servers that were assigned to that room started moving tables and setting up for the dinner service (and having personal conversations) while we were still there. It made us that it was their way of telling us it was time to leave! It also seemed odd that with the tables set with linens and with the ambiance of the Inn, we would have to use flimsy paper napkins. The server said that was their "lunch policy". We also expected the Inn would be more decorated for the holidays. Next time I would make a reservation around the availability of a front dining room table.

We live locally so it was always nice when new dinner shows would come up and we could enjoy it as a couple for $100. The food was always quite good and the shows were always good as well. I'm not sure whats happened but when I noticed a new show and 4 of us were about to book it I see that its now $65 to have dinner and a show? Well the entertainment is the same and I'm sure the dinner hasn't changed I also know they don't pay their staff any more money so whats better to take that much of a hit in an increase. Well after a few expensive drinks and bar tips this is definately not worth it to us anymore.

Food quality has never been an issue here. They have stepped up the portion size now so you do have a full plate. Staff are top notch. Not a place to take little kids but a great place for a dinner for 2.

We enjoyed a lovely Sunday brunch with our friends at the Elm Hurst Inn. There was a wonderful variety of food - the usual breakfast fair, plus seafood, waffles, cheeses, and a great dessert bar with crepes and a chocolate fountain. My husband thought the crepes could've been better. Mimosas and tea/coffee were also included in the price of the brunch. Our server was friendly but a little slow with tea/coffee service, but it was very busy. All in all, it's a great place to spend to spend a Sunday afternoon with good friends.
