I have been here many times, 10+, the food has always been great. Everything from the ingredients to the presentation is undertaken with meticulous care. The dining rooms are actually rooms of the old mansion and make a great setting for a quite dinner. They do have a larger dining space where breakfast is served (try their pastries!) where the space is much brighter and open.

For me, to get top marks a restaurant needs all of the qualities one would desire and additionally it must excel in the following: Food made from fresh ingredients to order when ordered, consistently delicious, and for 5 out of 5 I know even throwing a dart at the menu I will enjoy whatever I end up with.

Prices are in line with what you might find at similar establishments.

I recently enjoyed dinner at this lovely inn. The menu was wonderfully creative, the food was excellent, and the presentation was beautiful. The prices were what you would expect for a top end meal. The service was good, not exceptional. My one issue is that there was a person in our party who cannot tolerate gluten and the restaurant wasn't overly keen on accommodating that. We had to continually suggest alternatives to the waiter such as crudities to replace the bread in the complimentary bread and hummus, and in spite of asking him to check on what desserts were gluten free 40 minutes before we wanted to order dessert he still wasn't clear on what was safe and what wasn't. So, if you have food allergies this is not the place to go.

WE enjoyed ourselves at this wedding reception. It was buffett style with a selection of foods to chose from. All very fresh and tasty. Very picturesque surroundings and would like to return for their famous seafood buffett someday.

We have only had the Sunday brunch at the Elmhurst, so I can’t address the dining room in general. But the brunch buffet is excellent. There are really several buffets – a wide range of interesting salads; a cold seafood bar with excellent smoked salmon and other treats; a hot buffet with roast beef, traditional breakfast foods; omelettes and waffles to order; and a huge dessert room including flamed-before-your-eyes crepes. The service is attentive without being overbearing, and the dining rooms make you think that you’re in a Victorian mansion. This is not a cheap outing, but is well worth the price.

While travelling on business in the Ingersoll area, we celebrated our birthdays and wanted to do something a little special - boy was brunch at the Elm Hurst special! Dishes too numerous to mention but everything was excellent. The service was top notch. The food delicious, and a wide selection so something for everyone - even picky eaters like me, a vegetarian. It is easy to fill up before even approaching the dessert table so be sure to pace yourself. Wonderful tortes, pies, cookies and brownies. A chocolate fountain with fruit. AND made to order crepes. Mine a Banana's Foster type crepe with dark rum, drizzled with chocolate and topped with whip cream - WOW!
