“Absolutely beautiful!”
Reviewed September 8, 2013

We attended a wedding here this past weekend, and it was stunning! It was very well organized and all of the employees were efficient and friendly. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and the food was fantastic (we were surprised as "wedding food" is generally just meh, but this meal was delicious from start to finish)! I highly recommend this place for either a great weekend getaway or for a wedding.

My wife and I spent a couple of days at the Elm Hurst Inn and had a very enjoyable stay. The grounds are beautiful and we found it very relaxing walking and sitting in various spots on the property. Our room was clean and well appointed, though they could improve on the soap and toiletries. Our dining experiences were very good with the food and presentation very well done. Erin (front desk) was always helpful and friendly and should be commended for enhancing the Inn's brand.

We chose the Elm Hurst Inn for our wedding and it was the best experience a bride could ask for. I have to start by saying my wedding was a fairy tale, we had such an amazing time and everything was so well coordinated. Your staff have been exemplary, they treated Erick and I so well the entire weekend and we are so happy with all the little details that came through at the end.

The spa was very relaxing and they did a wonderful job on myself and the brides mani/pedicures.

This entire wedding process with everyone at the Inn has been easy flowing, relaxing and your staff know what they are doing. All of our wedding guests said the food was amazing, they absolutely loved the grounds and the grand ball room. Mike was really great in coordinating everything that we needed in the Kitchen as well. Brittney your front desk staff was an absolute doll and even got us extra mirrors so that we could all get ready together in the suite. Laura was on the ball and made sure that everything ran smoothly and put up with the phone calls and emails we exchanged pre wedding.

Our wedding was a weekend we will never forgot and it was only because of the quality of staff that you have at the Inn.

Set in the rolling countryside of Ingersoll, Ontario (near London), the Elm Hurst Inn is a late 19th century mansion, converted into a hotel, conference, wedding destination. The Harris family who built the farmstead was a cheese producer.
The hotel is adjacent to highway 401. The room was well appointed, clean, quiet and comfortable...our room was on the far side, north end. The hotel offers spa treatments; however best to reserve in advance of arrival because there are no spa therapists on staff, they are called in as needed. The hotel has a good FREE WiFi service. The restaurant offers a good selection; the dinner meal was good, with attentive service. The buffet breakfast was included with the stay and dine package. This made for a nice get away for my wife and Me.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the north side of the hotel, away from the highway.

Dear RogerJG,

Thank you for your review. I am so happy to hear you enjoyed your stay with us and had a delicious dinner. As you mentioned, our spa therapsits do not stay on property if they do not have any treatments booked. However, other times they are very busy down there. So like you mentioned I do recommend booking your spa treatments well in advance. We look forward to meeting you again in the near future.

We stayed here for a for a friends wedding. Very comfortable hotel with helpful staff. The breakfast was a bit chaotic but apart from that very good indeed. If you need to stay in the area I think this would definitely be a good option.

The hotel and the grounds were beautiful, and our room was nice. However, the service was terrible. It took forever to get drinks in the restaurant, and I don't really know what to say about the breakfast buffet as it was mostly empty. There was a large line of people waiting for the food to be replenished for some time and no staff to be found. When my party brought these issues to the attention of the front desk staff, we were told that they would have a meeting about it - no offer of a discount or anything for what was definitely sub-par service. I was looking forward to staying at the Elmhurst but was sadly disappointed. I won't be back.

Good evening,
Thank you very much for your review, those reviews are very important for us and me take them very seriously.
I would like to apologize for the inconvenience that you and your friends experienced that morning at the dining room. This morning we had an unexpected group that arrived to breakfast (40 guests) and that caused the line up and the lack of food. Our culinary team together with the servers did the best they could to serve and replenished the buffet. This is something that never happened before and will never happen again.
I was happy that you liked the grounds and your room.

Celebrated a friend's 40th birthday at the Elm Hurst this past Friday evening. We chose the pyjama party for 4 option. Two of us arrived at 3:30 and two arrived at 7:30 in the evening. Knowing this would be the case, we booked our food and treatments (which would be in our room) for 8:00. As I was one of the early arrivals, we were hoping to enjoy the grounds and sit and have a drink and an appetizer perhaps to tide us over until the others arrived. This proved to be difficult as it was apparent that the staff was mainly concerned with their change over, getting ready for the seafood buffet dinner and perhaps the wedding that evening. We were denied an opportunity to order anything food wise, and the drinks took forever and not to mention seemed to be too much trouble for someone to provide to us. Through this and what seemed every moment of the stay we were left to feel as if we were simply in the way. The only bright spot was our server on the Patio, Sue, who not only constantly checked on us once her shift began but also summoned the manager to assist us in our disappointment up to that time. It continued however when the Spa staff were looking for two hours before our scheduled time to begin our treatments. I'm sure they loved spending and extra two hours waiting for us when they had nothing else to do and on a Friday night.
Later in the evening I was attempting to locate a simple bottle of water, however no beverage whatsoever was to be found. Vending machines were sold out of anything possible to drink, and the bar by that time (10:00) was already closed up. Then the breakfast.... If you can call it that. The four servers were clearly outnumbered and doing their best to address the needs of too many people attending. We were placed in another room, where the dishes and fancy napkins were removed, and then left there with little attention. The coffee requested arrived 1/2 hour later after complaining once again. The cream took 10 minutes after that when the coffee had already chilled. When walking up to the breakfast buffet in the separate dining room, no glasses were ever available for the juice and each time we attempted to obtain food at the stations they were either empty or had the last scrapings left to choose from. The bacon looked good that was already on other customers plates.
Our disappointment was not the result of one or even a few staff members, but a culmination of poor planning, and complete disregard for anyone who deviates from their offered buffet that requires a reservation even if you are staying there.
The pedicures... rushed, with the two spa people having to crouch on the floor in a dimly lit room attempting to give us a good treatment. They tried their best with the situation they were given. They walked back and forth from our room to the spa to empty and refill the bowl of water they were using. Would have much preferred to actually have the treatment inside the spa itself.
We did check out the Spa, but it was disappointing with little to offer unless you want the typical mani/pedi. The hot tub is in a corner of the small spa room for you to enjoy with every other person walking into the room so you're on display for all. No thank you!
Although they have updated the entire resort, and it is a beautiful place, they are missing out on many obvious opportunities to ensure all guests are happy. Our needs were not out of the ordinary but clearly just too much for this establishment to offer basics.

Room Tip: Don't have more than 2 people per room. Bathrooms are very nice, shower only.

Thank you very much for your review, I would like to apologize for not meeting your expectations that evening that you came to celebrate your friend's 40th birthday.
The Pyjama Party package is one of our most popular packages at the Inn. It includes two bottles of wine, cheese tray, pizza for each one of you and Pedicure or Manicure.
It is nice of you to mention Sue who served you on the Patio, she is a great server and we are lucky to have her with us.
On Saturday morning we had a group of 40 showing up for breakfast without any reservation, this was the main reason for breakfast to be slow, confused and not as it is usually served on Saturday. Our culinary team and the servers at the Dining room did the best they could to replenished the food and serve breakfast.
Our main goal is to keep our guests happy and satisfied and we failed to do that with your stay and celebration.
I will appreciate if you can send me a personal email to: alon@elmhurstinn.com and we will be able to discuss it over the phone.

Best regards,
Alon Gurman
