First of all, it is important to understand that this is a relatively small zoo in comparison to the Toronto Zoo and others. However, this is a local family owned and operated facility which has been running for almost 100 years. I grew up coming here and continue to do so as a young adult (24). It is great for little ones as there is a splash pad water area as well as some very unique older carnival type rides (merry-go-round, etc.). There are also opportunities to get up close with several animals including lemur feedings, baby goats wander freely, elephant rides (an additional fee) and various other encounters depending on the day. There is a wonderful small theater where they have shows showcasing many of the popular animals and their talents. While some of the enclosures may seem a bit small, it's worth noting that the public display areas are not the entire property. The zoo is set on 55 acres of land which also has a natural creek running through where the popular elephant Limba likes to play.

All of the animals appear happy and well looked after. Limba the elephant is a joy to interact with. Once you start speaking to her she responds with a smile on her face. The animals love for the staff/trainers is very apparent. Be sure to schedule your visit around feeding and show times to get the full experience.

If you've got little ones, you could easily spend a good chunk of the day here if you attend the show, spend time at the splash pad, have a picnic, etc. However, if you have older children or are just coming with adults, expect to be done in about 2 hours or so depending how much time you like to spend with each animal.

Definitely a great place to visit and support if you enjoy getting up close to these wonderful animals.

Although the zoo isn't HUGE it is great for young families or if you're looking for a 1/2 day or afternoon trip rather than 6+ hours at a larger facility with much walking. This zoo is reasonably priced, great shows, and lots of cool animals!

Coming to the zoo was probably one of my most favourite zoo trips ever! I have visited many other zoos but there was something that was just so different about this zoo! All the staff and Zoo Keepers were so friendly to us and are very knowledgable about the animals; you can tell they have a very strong heart for all of the animals they work with. I was very impressed that they have so much interaction with the animals. My daughter had a chance to go into the ring tailed lemur encloser and was able to feed the lemurs! They do this every day at 1pm and 5pm. We also had a chance to see the lion and tiger get fed as well; which also happens at 3pm daily. There were elephant rides for a low cost of 6 dollars. How many people can said they rode an elepahnt right?! They also have daily shows which the animals show their behaviours and tricks they have learned. Just a heads up, the elephant Limba, puts on a really cool show and she can paint! The cost of the zoo was a very reasonable price and the food was rather cheap too. I strongly recommend giving the zoo a visit!

The zoo is small for sure. Only took just over an hour to see the whole zoo. Lots of animals tucked away and not really able to be seen. Enclosures were very small and many things not available during the week like small water section and shows. Would not visit again, but good for a short fairly in-expensive activity with small kids.
