Just attended my sisters wedding. Upon check in was greated with an additional $10 room charge when asking why the difference in price was told room wasn't reserved for the wedding block....which it was. Staff rudely huffed and changed the price. Had to ask for towels. After the wedding the Bridal suite wasn't cleaned nor were fresh towels given to the bride and groom. Sunday brunch when asking the staff for additional flat ware for a few family memebers who didn't have a place setting...we were greeted with NO as they insisted there was enough out. Overall impression was that its a great place to attend a wedding but if you are the one spending the $$$ onthe wedding its rather a disappointment. For the cost of the wedding I would expect the staff to smile and service the bride.

We attended a wedding reception here and had an excellent time.

The food was delicious and well timed as well as tasting fresh and/or hot as you would hope. Lots of taste to it and visually it was great to look at.

Speaking of visually, the grounds were nice to walk around in and the hall itself was exactly fitting to the event. It catered to everything you would expect for such an occasion.

I cannot speak to the rest of the accomadations as we didn't use them but the hall and the facilities used for it along with the food was great.

Room was incredibly basic, but clean. Breakfast was a disappointment, you have to order from a menu, even for cereal, no basic breakfast items out at all. I had a stale bowl of All Bran. The grounds are quite pretty, the wedding we attended was very well done. Staff were extremely friendly.

Thank you for your review and for your lovely comments about the property and staff. Our apologies if the cereal was not up to par, obviously this is not what we stand for as our breakfast options are usually one of the favourite parts of their stay with us. Our breakfast menu does offer more than just cereal besides the breakfast meals- as there is a section in the bottom for fresh fruit, different types of breads, muffins etc. Our apologies if this was not shown to you or mentioned. We thank you once again for your review.

We attended a friend's wedding here, so were part of a large captive audience. I'm guessing this is something that happens a lot, which is how they can charge 4 star prices for 2 star accommodation. The wedding preparations were meticulously executed, and the grounds and Coach House immaculate. The breakfast was also very good, and the staff very attentive and friendly. There's a pool and sunbathing area which are similarly well kept. Our room however, was pretty austere, like an above average motel. It was clean enough, but was pervaded by a strange smell not entirely unlike urine. The decor is a sort of Soviet-era prison motif. Our room had a brutally efficient air conditioner, which was very welcome after the ceremony in the blazing afternoon sun! WiFi is absolutely shocking; works for about 5 minutes each afternoon, then the access points overheat (because they've been mounted upside down on the ceiling) and don't work again until somebody resets the whole shooting match the next day.

I can certainly see the attraction for those looking to tie the knot, but their guests who opt to stay over may find themselves grinning and bearing it.

Thank you for your email and for your lovely comments about our Property, cleanliness and staff. Being a family owned and operated we take special care and pride in ensuring that our have a great experience when staying at our Inn, whether attending a wedding or on a personal vacation. We were sorry to hear that your room had that strange smell- as you can imagine, if we take the care to keep everything clean and in order then this odour would not be acceptable or characteristic of rooms- had we been aware of this we would have promptly taken care of this. As far as the wifi goes- yes, we did experience some technical difficulty and have since fixed the problem - the reset, access points had nothing to do with signal but we thank you for letting us know. WE have had complimentary wifi at our Inn for the past 6 years and are mindful that being in the country this is an amenity that is important to our guests.
Lastly, room rates start at $129 and go up from there depending on the room type (suite with jacuzzi, etc. etc) and based on the local area accommodations that are 4 star ($195 and up) we are and have been told that our rates are rather low based on what we offer in rooms and amenities.
Thank you once again for taking the time and should you have any other questions/information, please do not hesitate to email me at liz@hessenland.com

I have driven past this Inn/Restaurant for over 20 years. My wife and I stopped in for dinner tonite, and it was great. If you want an authentic german dinner, near Sarnia/Grand Bend this is the place. VERY clean, great grounds, very well kept location.
Small Inn and large wedding facility. Our table overlooked the pool and gardens.
Waitress was great, we had the german Platter, that gave us a "tasting" of everything, and then had the german dessert.
Stop in, it is worth the drive and its a great spot!

The weather was out of their control. The chairs for the outside service were tacky but he location made up for it. The food and the service were spectacular. I thought that the place was a great choice. handled well in all.

The grounds are stunning and really well kept, the outdoor pool is freezing although the weather was very warm. We had dinner three nights and the food was amazing. The rooms are basic but were kept very clean. Staff were really friendly and helpful. The inn is really quiet with not much going on, Bayfield is a taxi ride away costing 30.00 dollars. The bar closes very early and there is no lunch menu. We stayed for four nights and while I enjoyed my time and found it very relaxing I was getting bored towards the end as there's so little to do.
