Stopped in to the Farmers Daughter one snowy night enroute to Ingonish, N.S. They have terrific lunch specials from fish cakes and beans to cornbeef and cabbage, pulled pork sandwiches and all, I only wished that i lived closer so that i could have lunch there everyday. I especially like their chicken fingers and taters, there is an eating area to one side but i like stopping there in the summer when you can stop on the busy corner and watch the traffic go by from the tables set up outside/ There is a great gift shop there as well, with a lot of homemade cape breton crafts for sale. They have lots of homemade baked goods for sale as you wait for your take out or eat in dinner. It is very casual and all are welcomed there. The Cape Breton staff are second to none, they will be quick to warn you about the moose on the roads so drive slow. This is not a big city, high priced restaurant. It is a great takeout or eatin restaurant/giftshop/bakery/museum in the heart of Cape Breton that you should make it your regular stop for sure. It is always worth stopping and talking to the locals and asking things like, Hows she going, or what am i missing? they will be quick to tell you and help you along your way, it is always one of our regular stops on our way to ingonish but watch out for the Mooses.
