My husband and I visited Charlene's Bayside Cafe in July during our trip to Cape Breton. We saw it on an episode of You Gotta Eat Here. It didnt look like much from the outside. In fact we almost missed it but when we got our food...OMG! It was terrific! The seafood chowder is fantastic! The best! And for dessert? Try the Bucket of Mud! Sooooooo yummy! The Food Network was right. You Gotta Eat Here!

We came in for lunch and it was like the food my mom would make - which was real New England cooking. This is Canadian Maritime, Nova Scotia, and was charming place and excellent food and service. Highly recommend it. It's VERY downhome.

Thanks for an amazing bowl of seafood joy! No potatoes, just a perfect blend of seafood and lobster that is cooked to perfection and not overly salty. Hurray and thank you.

My wife and I ate breakfast here 2 times while staying in Whycocomagh. The food and service were both very good.

A very busy spot with 1 server who was calm, efficient, and helpful with the menu suggestions. We chose a bowl (meal sized) of fish chowder which is served with a fresh homemade roll. The bowl was filled with a variety of fish and shellfish and was presented with a lovely crab pincer - shelled - on top. The broth was perfectly seasoned and not overly salted. This chowder is worth a detour if you're in the neighbourhood.
