“Average Bar”
Reviewed June 30, 2014

We ate dinner at Big Al's on Saturday June 28th while staying overnight at the Train Station Inn. We ordered chicken wings and two different burgers with potato skins. The service was prompt and courteous. Refills on the drinks when needed. The chicken wings were tasty but we both found the burgers a little dry. Potato skins were good but could have used a little more cheese. Overall I would rate them as above average in service but average on the food. Typical bar/pub layout and decor with an additional patio section. I would take a chance on eating here again.

“Good Service, Okay Food”
Reviewed June 29, 2014

I had the chicken club with fires. Pretty good food. Not the best pub food I have had. The service was excellent. The prices are average to above average.

“Just okay”
Reviewed June 27, 2014

Short and sweet. This looked like a nice local pub to try. The service was okay but it was very slow, and forget about getting any refills or second beers etc. The chef was a bit tight with ingredients. It was pub food and was just okay.

“Beautiful Day and Great Lunch”
Reviewed May 20, 2014

On Saturday, we made our journey to Jost to stock up and decided to stop in Tatamagouche, specifically at Al's, for lunch. After such a long and cold winter we were blessed with a sunny hot day and got to set on the deck and enjoy our lunch. I had the chowder which was delicious and, in a huge bowl, very filling. My wife had the fish cakes and while good they were deep fried and not being used to deep fried food left a lingering taste.
Overall a great experience. Nice and relaxing and a very friendly waitress. Service was a bit slow but she did apologize as they had 2 large groups inside. This certainly was not an issue for us as it simply gave us more time to relax. Unfortunately, I did not get a chance to sample the beer as I was driving ..
We would definitely come back as well as recommend it,
