Enjoyed a restful night in the Caboose and a scrumptious dinner in the dining car. Planked salmon and Lobster Pot Pie both delicious. A fun night and a great atmosphere, everything you could need.

It was a special experience indeed, the room decor was very natural, and had railroading pictures on the wall. The shower had the best water pressure i had experience in a hotel-type setting. The staff was extremely helpful, considerate and easy to access. The owner made it a point to greet visitors at breakfast, and the food was delicious. It is centrally located so that either Amherst or Pictou areas are easy drives.

We were not sure what to expect when we booked. We were afraid that it might be "cheesy". We were wrong. The atmosphere was wonderful - the owners' love of trains and everything railway came through. We had caboose #5 for our room. There was an ensuite with a tub, a queen size bed and we were able to climb up into the cuppola (upper viewing area) to read and access the wifi. Funishings were comfortable and period. When we arrived on a hot summer day we were pleased to find that the car had air conditioning - something the crews never had. We also had a fridge and coffee maker.
We had our breakfast in the old train station. Continental breakfast was included but there was a small extra charge if you wanted a hot breakfast. It was worth it to have fresh blueberry pancakes and Acadian Fench toast. We had our dinner in the dining car featuring local ingredients.
There is a nice gift shop in the train station.

My whole experience was above and beyond my expectations. As soon as you turn off the road and into the inn it is like going back in time...what a unique experience. If you are looking for something different to experience this is the place for you. We stayed in caboose # 9 which had everything we needed including a small fridge and a private balcony. The bed was comfortable and the air conditioner was a welcome sight. The gift shop in the former train station is awesome, a wide variety of choices and very reasonable prices. There is a lounge car where you can sit and have a drink and also a dining car which was a very pleasurable experience, the meals were very good although i would have liked the prices to be a bit cheaper to accommodate larger families, i think they would get more diners if the prices were cheaper. Our friends stayed in one of the rooms in the station house and it was very charming, i loved it, it was decorated beautifully and they had access to a kitchen and a balcony that overlooked the premesis. We are already planning our trip back next year, can't wait!!!

I found the Train Station Inn on the Internet and it looked like a fun place to stay especially for our 12 year old son. He definitely liked his view from the top bunk of the caboose! I liked the "recycling" of railway cars and the old station building - a very clever idea! Our caboose had a nice layout and seemed roomy for the three of us. We liked having a small dining table and fridge in our caboose in order to have our breakfast as we found the breakfast room in the station was packed both mornings. The staff was very accommodating when we arrived very late the first evening; they set out our key and had the caboose lights on to welcome us. The only down side was despite good cross circulation through all the windows, the caboose became very steamy especially the bathroom when the summer temperatures climbed over 30 degrees. All in all, I would recommend the Train Station Inn especially for small families looking for adventure.

1) My husband and I were cycling through and our dog rolled in something awful. The Inn staff gave us soap, rags, and water to wash her down.
2) We needed a place to pitch our tent and they let us use their property.
3) BEST French toast ever the next morning
4) It was horrible out (hailing) and we decided to book into a motel vs. pitching tent. Jimmy the owner helped us out, gave us a great deal, great room, and awesome breakfast.

THANKS Train Station! You guys were awesome!

I stayed in half a boxcar and that was a hoot - comfortable, but like railway cars the world over, it required efficient use of space. It's compact but it worked. I arrived a little late but they accommodated me at the dining car (thank-you!) with a great stew and brew - perfect to end a long evening. Next morning, after a gentle walk along the trails (former railway track) and a just fine breakfast in the old station, I got to tour the cabooses. This was an amazing treat because I've restored a caboose and know what an enormous project it is. This is not a big city hotel - go to a big city if you want one. This is a unique property, cared for with love and respect. For me it was a trip in nostalgia, a lesson in the economics of the region, a chance to immerse myself in local history and a great break in a hectic week of speaking and teaching in Atlantic Canada. Kudos.
