We were in Caboose no.4 for 2 nights and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It has a certain faded glory but this all adds to the atmosphere. The accomodation was clean and comfortable. The staff were amazed that our 6ft 3inches tall son fitted on the bunk beds, but he was fine! We had no problems but felt if we did, we would have been well looked after. We booked to have our first night's meal in the dining car and returned the second night as it was so good.

We had train #9.The car was beautiful, having two bedrooms ,one with two single beds the other with a queen, the passageway between the rooms had ladders on either side leading to the conductor seats. The shower ,. toilet and sink also in the passage way were small but very adequate Nice deck on which we enjoyed wine from our jost winery visit. We had the continental breakfast included in the price, homemade muffins ,scones, yogurt, cereal, fruit, tea, coffee and juice.,..plenty for us .Am looking forward to returning with my boys. ...Choose your train car carefully as all are unique .

We stayed at the Train Station Inn for one night and wished we could have stayed there longer. The rooms are in refurbished cabooses or box cars, complete with a private bathroom and living room area. Everything you could possibly need was there, including a mini-fridge, coffee-maker and blow dryer. We ate dinner in the dining car and the food was excellent! A continental breakfast is included, which is more than adequate, but we paid a bit extra for Acadian French toast and blueberry pancakes which were superb. The Train Station Inn has the most unique and fun gift shop I've ever seen - toys for every age. The owner, James, appeared at breakfast wearing his full conductor's outfit and was all too willing to answer questions about the history of this place. It's within walking distance to a great selection of shops and services. We had the best nights' sleep ever, because it was so quiet there and the bed was so comfortable. I would highly recommend this place to everyone, whether they're train buffs or not!

What a disappointment this place was. I expected something without a lot of frills but I got much less than I expected. The nightly rate of $140 is excessive for a train car. The bed is not comfortable, the shower is like a black hole with very poor lighting in a tiny bathroom. The sheets had old stains on them and there was hair in the tub- yuk! The TV is about 12 inches in size and difficult to see due to it's location. The one chair in the room was worn to the wood- how could anyone be expected to sit on it?

It was my anniversary and despite advising the people of this when making our reservation and upon checking in, no mention was ever made of it. We had hoped for a special anniversary dinner in the dining car but rather what we got was poorly cooked food and one waitress who didn't have a clue what she was doing. We asked a couple questions about how food was cooked and her response was "I don't know"!!! So- find out. She seemed to be in a daze and unsure of everything. The other waitress heard this dialogue and stepped in to provide the information we sought. Our fish was not cooked thoroughly and when we sent both dishes back they were returned supposedly heated up but the fish was still raw and cold. We were then informed it could be remade as though it would be an inconvenience. Once it was remade it was very tasty, cooked and hot. The experience at breakfast was equally disappointing with food not being properly cooked. Other than some cereal, muffin, canned fruit and coffee you'll have to pay for anything you want for breakfast. Even maple syrup comes with an additional charge!

I think the Train Station Inn could be a comfortable and delightful place to stay but it most definately needs some work on the quality of the beds, chairs, bathrooms, linens and food. It's a shame that such a unique idea is so poorly managed.

I am very sorry you did not have an enjoyable experience at The Train Station Inn.
After 20 years in the business sometimes things slip by us and without guests like yourselves bringing them to our attention we would not have the opportunity to revisit our practices that made us so popular in the beginning. We have recently created a new position that is in charge of quality control within the different facets of our inn.

We stayed at the Train Station Inn on August 30th. At the time of booking it seemed like a good idea. My girls (ages 12 & 16) thought it would be fun to sleep in the bunk bed style berth. Our first impression was that it was cute. But sleeping was a probem. My oldest was on the top bunk and it was hot and stuffy, she complained of bugs bothering her and she could not sleep so the three of us cramed into one queen size bed. My 12 year old made it through the night w/o any problem but the next day she had two huge spider bites on her legs. Her foot swelled up and she was not happy. The shower/bathroom was dark and not ventilated well the toilet leaked water all over the floor. It was very tiny and cramped. Overall I give the owner credit for trying to create something unique, but the place needs a lot of repair work and some TLC. We would not stay there again.

My wife and I were passing through Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia and we were looking in the Nova Scotia Doer's and Dreamers 2007 guide and we saw the Train station Inn listed. We almost skipped it thinking it was not worth the stop and we were going to keep on driving. But we changed our mind and did a u-turn and checked it out. I am 49 and my wife is 52 and we were both like little kids. The hotel rooms are In the station house as well as train cars outside. The upstairs rooms also have a common area complete with a kitchen. We looked at the two available train cars, both the caboose and the boxcar. We chose the boxcar. It was a decent sized room with a queen size bed and a loft with a twin bed. We had our own bathroom, a coffee pot and fridge. We also had our own sitting area outside the room but still in the boxcar. Kind of like a balcony.
The Dinning car was two cars down and the food was excellent. I love to see old things used well in a clever modern way and this is one of the best ideas out there.
As a qualifier, I am an airline pilot and I stay in hotels three nights out of every seven and I tell you this place was really neat.
