We stayed at the Train Station in August 2013 during a 2 week vacation through NB and NS. I've been around the world and have to say the Train Station was the most unique experience. We were treated liked royality. The spice toffee cake in the Governors Car is to die for.

Room Tip: Caboose 4 Eating in the Dining Car is a Must The gift shop is a lark.... And yes I did buy train...

My partner did not know we were going to stay here on a recent tour of Nova Scotia. On arrival down the trail i think he thought we were staying at an Inn, which is the first building you see (the old station building), once we turned the corner, he saw the carriages and realised we were going to be staying in one of them he came over all boyish! Caboose No. 5 was adequately comfortable, with enough space, small bathroom and although not luxurious, i don't think you could beat it for an experience if you are looking for something a bit different. the Story behind the making of the hotel is also very interesting if you dig a bit deeper than just reviewing a hotel room as it is also about the community and the local area and challenges that many smaller communities are facing. The facilities, food and atmosphere all made for a relaxing experience. We enjoyed our conversation over dinner with fellow travellers and on Saturday morning whiled away a lazy couple of hours at the local farmers market. Well worth a stop if you are a traveller who likes to experience different things and keep an open mind but probably not if you like your hotel rooms to conform to cookie standards.

For train enthusiasts (of any age) and anyone else passing through you just have find at least one night in the itinerary for this delightfully unique hotel. The staff were very accommodating, helpful and friendly, and the hotel experience is as charming as it is unique. This hotel is a destination in itself, and is as much a thing to see/do in NS as anything else.

The food is generally quite good, but with some odd inconsistencies. The sushi (spicy crab roll) on the dinner menu was clearly made well in advance and refrigerated - the rice was dry, cold and hard. It made it inedible. But the rest of the meal was very good indeed. Breakfast depends a lot on who is cooking. Day 1 a young man was cooking and everything was fine, day 2 someone else was, and the eggs were overcooked and the whole meal's timing was off. The continental buffet isn't much of a buffet, and suffers from the use of canned fruit. What's included free is a very light meal indeed - and given the rates they could be more generous.

The location may seem out of the way (and the town itself seems to close by 4pm), but it's not badly placed for reaching sites like Joggins Fossil Cliffs and, of course, the rest of the Northumberland coast of Nova Scotia. Or as a stopping point on the way to/from the PEI-NS Ferry or Confederation Bridge.

Room Tip: If you are traveling with kids Caboose 4 is the only room that has the necessary extra space - a bun...

Being married to a train enthusiast it seemed like the perfect place to stay! The train cars themselves are nicely renovated while still leaving some of the original train aspects intact. I would defiantly recommend staying for the experience but don't expect to be comfortable. The beds leave little be be desired. If you are looking to get a good nights rest this is not the place!

Twice we went looking for employees, for minor issues but no one ever seems to be in the gift shop/check in area. More attention is needed in this area

Night visit to The Train Station Inn. We stayed there 10 years ago and I find that it's really been kept up. Improved really. Still a bit pricey though. I think 200 bucks is a bit much for what you get but the grounds are very well kept up and it's a really charming place. Almost fell through the chair next to the bed. I think it lost its springs. This was in caboose 9 with the small deck. Beds were comfortable. Shower was small but that's to be expected in a train car. Soaps were small and not good quality. Our dog stayed for 10 dollars extra. Can't comment on the food in the dining car because we had the dog. Still I'd recommend the inn. It's quaint and cool for somebody looking for a unique sleepover experience.

What an awesome experience. We stayed in one of the train carriages and it was great. I wish I could dream up something like this and make it come through. The Caboose was spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff were excellent and helpful. Would highly recommend the experience.

The breakfasts were awesome and the dinner, in the dining car was even better. Absolutely loved the raspberry pie that we had seconds of desert. Would have gone for thirds if they didn't run out, it was that good.

The location was great and it was a short walk to everything.

Room Tip: We had Caboose no. 9 - we even had a balcony with table and chairs at the front of our carriage wher...

We enjoyed our stroll around this location prior to enjoying a fabulous meal in the dining car. It was nice that several cars where open to the public and you could even view a few of the accommodation cars which were very nicely decoration in the period! At no charge I might add!

Room Tip: Did not stay their on this trip but something I would consider in the future!
