“A Truly Lovely Home”
Reviewed October 8, 2009

David, the host of the Gillespie House Inn in Parrsboro, has done a wonderful job renovating his home into a phenomenal inn. The double-gabled home with huge front porch is absolutely impeccably decorated with historical photography and artwork from the region and the rooms each have elegant and comfortable furniture. We were traveling as 6 with a small infant and David was accommodating and adaptable to our requests. Also, nice library and reading room with internet access and a fine and hearty breakfast. Well done Dave! Thanks for everything!

Parrsboro was our home base for exploring the Glooscap Trail, we stayed at Gillespie House Inn for two nights. Days were spent hiking, kayaking and exploring the area - which was unspoiled and beautiful. The Gillespie House Inn was right off Main Street, situated on a large piece of property that included a walking/sitting flower garden area and a large garage filled with antiques, all this abutted a beautiful church property - which made this all the more scenic and peaceful.

The owner, Laurie, was very welcoming and took ample time to show us through the house and into our room. There were living room areas for use, a large walkaround covered porch with out door furniture, chairs and tables, and a computer for use also.

Our room was large and very comfortable, with a queen bed and plenty of drawer space if needed. Bedding was very comfortable, windows to open and a fan was provided. Our bath was very spacious with a large claw foot tub with shower attachment, and a seperate spacious shower stall. There was plenty of room for toiletries, and nice soap/bath gels etc left for use. Property is immaculate.

We were kindly set up with coffee to go and muffins on the early day of our kayak trip, since we would miss breakfast, so that was very accomodating. The breakfast the next day was in the dining room shared among guests and made- to- order choice of chive scrambled eggs or french toast that day. Plenty of fresh juice, coffee/tea and loaves of bread to cut yourself and toast to enjoy with various local jams. Breakfast was excellent. we had a lively group of fellow inn guests, so breakfast was fun - always enjoy the conversation.

Overall, this was a fine B & B (and we have stayed in many), clean, very homey, spacious accomodations, pretty upscale for a rural area if I have to add a better desciption. Ownership was helpful with suggestions, and made time for you without being intrusive at all. We sincerely appreciated the effort of the breakfast- to- go. Beautiful area, we're glad we ventured off to the coast that is not frequented as much by tourists - we really enjoyed this side of the Fundy coastline and our few days at the Gillespie House Inn.

The owner and housekeeper asst. were very gracious and helpful. Our room was spotless, very comfortable and homey. The breakfast was delicious. It is wonderfully situated to enjoy the Cape Chignecto area of Nova Scotia. I would definitely stay here again.

My husband and I ended our honeymoon here after spending a week on PEI. We found the inn to be just as advertised...clean, well kept with yummy foods and helpful hints about the area. The building and grounds are beautiful, the room was comfortable and spacious and the innkeeper was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our short visit to the area and would stay here again if we were ever in Parrsboro again.

Myself and my sister spent a night in this beautiful B&B. The house is beautiful, set back from the road, with a little old church tucked in beside it. There is a lovely porch all around the front and chairs out on the lawn to sit and watch the sun go down.

The bedroom was lovely, twin beds, lovely bed linen and a nice bright bathroom.

We were the only guests when we arrived as the season was ending but by morning there were 4 other people tucking into a lovely fresh breakfast.

A lovely B&B in Parrsboro.

We booked tickets for Ship's Company and stayed overnight at the Gillespie House. This is a first rate Bed and Breakfast venue with wonderful furnishings, first quality comfortable beds and, contrary to an old review, no country kitch. The decor was beautifully done, the chairs out front offered cool, green shade and the gardens were a delight. The nearby antique Catholic Church also added to the ambience. The owner greeted us warmly and showed our rooms. The front porch was awesome and the breakfast was custom ordered and delicious. This B & B is a great value for money and will will return many times for other plays and warm evenings on the front porch with our traveling companions.

We had a lovely stay at the Gillespie House Inn. The house is beautiful and decorated very tastefully. The hosts were very accomadating, certainly very friendly and were eager to share information and their affection for the Parrsboro area. Our room was comfortable with a perfect bed and high quality linens. Also, I might add spotlessly clean.

In the past we have had bad experiences with other B&Bs but our stay at the Gillespie House Inn certainly restored our faith in this type of accomadation.
