“Please do not for nonexcisting paradise - just come to the real one - Beach House on Hatfield Road!!!”

We were really lucky one more time... This time we came to wonderful Nova Scotia and we were told that our luck is in that a week before it was rainy and cold and unpleasant...
Another fluke/or luck/or both... was related to the place we had booked to spend in for the next week...
And to be precise ... it was not just an ordinary place or usual cottage or bed and breakfast... it was heavenly located Blue Beach House “above” the sky... above the ocean...at the level of Bald Eagle flight!!!
This place is an extraordinary one, located on a tip of a high hill facing Minas Basin. The hill is covered with different shrubs including white speckled alder, dead and alive spruces, firs, larches, birches, aspens One side of the hill is surrounded by oceanic water and the other one ... by Fox River...

The air is so fresh and healing!!! No human-made noise!!! Birds are singing and flying... Mysterious dawns and sunsets...

Exploring shore roads and little villages, tiny galleries and small museums at Parrsboro and Grensville was memorable...

This place is very close to Five Islands, to Parssboro, to Advocate Bay, to Wild Caraway Restaurant, to local fish market and many other wonderful places to see and visit...

Please, come there and enjoy it!!! You will never regret and never forget!!

“Loved it”
Reviewed May 24, 2015 for a stay in May 2015

I stayed in the beach cottage for 6 days with another adult and eight high school seniors, who could hardly believe their good fortune! The first thing we noticed was how well-kept and comfortable the cottage is, and we were then drawn to the windows and wonderful views of the Bay. We made breakfast and dinner for ourselves in the cottage almost every day of our stay, and found that the kitchen really had all of the tools that we needed, including a toaster, plug-in kettle, pots and pans in many sizes, pie plates and baking sheets, measuring cups, all of the utensils for eating and cooking, bowls and plates galore, and both a dishwasher and a drying rack (the 10 of us filled both at every meal). All of the appliances - electric range, oven, refrigerator and dishwasher - worked well and the oven has a convection option, which was handy. Most importantly for me, there was a good coffee maker with a thermal carafe to get me started each morning. I can confirm that the dining room table definitely seats 10 comfortably, and we enjoyed taking our meals in there. The homey vintage furniture, paintings, glassware and pottery, vintage postcards, memorabilia, tchochkes and findings around the cottage enhance its character and add interest around every corner. The views from both the main and second floors were stunning, and we could easily have stayed on to continue enjoying them. I recommend a time-lapse photography app on your mobile / cell phone to perch in a window and let run over several hours or even a full day for your own Bay of Fundy tide (and sky) video to take home. It was great to be able to take a short path down to the beach from either side of the yard, as we all did at least once daily. The rocky beach was great for walks and beach combing, and we enjoyed a lovely (and safe) fire on the beach one night too. The nights were cool enough that we gathered around the fireplace in the living room and enjoyed leafing through some of the many books on the shelves, as well as a little wifi time. We were trying to limit screen time most of the day, but the wifi was reliable and there was cable / satellite TV had we wanted to watch. There were ample sheets, blankets and towels in the cottage, even for all of us, and we were encouraged to adjust the thermostat as necessary for our comfort. As someone who is 6 feet tall, I am also happy to report that the shower head was high enough for me to stand well under it (no back bending limbo move necessary) - a seemingly small but important factor! More good news was that while we did not want to waste the water, the hot water was truly hot and plenty for our showers and dish washing. Those of us from the US (as I am) will be wowed by the degree to which Nova Scotia has trash separated into organics for composting, co-mingled recycling, and then as little landfill trash as possible. The cottage is no exception and has all of the necessary bins and bags with instructions and lists. It's about 20 minutes to the center of Parrsboro by car, and we found the grocery shopping there to be more than sufficient for our needs. Like so many of our experiences in Nova Scotia, we found people to be super-friendly whether at the grocery, gas station, post office, cafe or restaurant/diner. There is also a health center, a fast food place, a pharmacy, and at least one gift shop in town. The owner and the care-takers (from whom we picked-up the keys) were wonderful to work with from start to finish, and we had a friendly call mid-week to see that we were happy and finding everything we needed. So nice! I would - and may soon - stay in this wonderful cottage again! Many thanks to Liz and company!

“Nice location, beautiful views”
Reviewed August 9, 2012 for a stay in July 2012

Beginning with the rental process and through to the end, the owner was helpful and pleasant to deal with. The house is in a beautiful location overlooking the water and a short walk from a pebble beach. The house is well stocked, everything is clean and in reasonably good condition, however not "fancy". This is definitely a beach cottage not a high-end luxury rental. When we arrived the kitchen smelled a bit like someone had burned something in the microwave, but otherwise no complaints.

Thanks to our guest for taking the time to submit this review. As I live in Toronto and manage this Nova Scotia property from a distance, I appreciate the comments and will make sure the cleaners take a look at the microwave.
