“pleasant well situated Irish pub.”
Reviewed March 9, 2014

We had forgettable crab cakes. My companion had an excellent chowder with soda bread. The chowder was great but was a small serving considering the price. I had a chicken salad and enjoyed it.Service was good if a little aggressive. The Dock is a standard Irish pub with all the usual posters etc. but does feature a nice lady from Cork doing the cooking.I truly loved the bread pudding and highly recommend it.

“Average Pub Fare”
Reviewed January 10, 2014

The food was acceptable but I really can't say it was above average or below average. The atmosphere was that of a typical pub with average service. Prices were average too!

“Good Irish pub”
Reviewed November 15, 2013

Really enjoyed the service and the atmosphere in an old stone building built in 1845. Lots of choice of fish and regular pub fare. Wish there was a hotel on the 2nd floor so there would be a hotel with an actual restaurant in town.

“Fish Cakes or mussels? Hard to choose!”
Reviewed October 17, 2013

Lucky us to find ourselves stopping in New Glasgow for lunch, before heading to Celtic Colours in Nova Scotia. The Dock's Friday special was fish cakes lightly pan fried, served with Caesar salad, all delicious. We split an order and added a bowl of their chowder on the recommendation of charming host and owner Carmel Margeson. Of course we washed it all down with pints of Keith's beer, only available in Canada. Sighting bowls of steaming mussels being served in this charming Irish pub, we announced our return the following Tuesday for lunch to try them. Carmel promised she would have mussels ready and she came through as promised. We tried them in the garlic, butter, wine broth with Irish soda bread and the Cajun Crab cakes, this time served by Carmel's husband Wayne. Another winner! A perfect meal to top off a perfect weekend of Celtic music in our beloved Cape Breton.

“Quaint, Fun Irish Pub”
Reviewed October 16, 2013

Great atmosphere! You feel like you're in Ireland or Scotland. My husband had the chowder and he loved it! We stopped at The Dock for a break between wedding ceremony pictures and the reception and I would have been more than happy to spend the whole evening there drinking and laughing!!
