“Most Excellent Stay at this B & B”
Reviewed November 19, 2012

This is a beautiful Historical Property set between two of the four Churches in Mahone Bay and was within walking distande to shopping venues. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, decorated with antiques and period pieces that make this B & B so charming and inviting. Across the street a full view of the water to welcome your senses. The rooms greeted you with downy soft beds and ensuite bathrooms that are immaculate and clean. Our Hosts were so friendly and helpful and breakfast was not only pleasing to the pallet but presented beautifully. Loved it here.

The only B&B my friend and I stayed at while in Nova Scotia. Why? We couldn’t imagine any other B&B topping it.

Melanie and Willem are fantastic. Welcoming, helpful and hilarious. Answered all our questions about what to do in the area and sent us in the right direction for more information. They are easy to find, yet tucked away from the road. Perfect location.

Every space is carefully decorated and maintained with an eye for detail. Very clean and comfortable rooms.

Breakfast is amazing. Delicious baked goods, good coffee, fresh juice, lots of fruit, eggs done to perfection and homemade granola that is to die for. You will want to come back because a morning without a breakfast like that just doesn’t leave you feeling as good. Plus, you will not find anywhere else a lively, yet relaxed space to have an exceptional breakfast and an entertaining discussion.

You will feel like you are in a home away from home, but this home is better because Melanie and Will have done all the work and make it seem effortless. A must if you are going through Mahone Bay.

Everything was wonderful - the breakfasts were very special indeed. Mel and Will were very good hosts and both the house and room were very comfortable indeed. Our hosts were very helpful with respect to local interests and contributed to a wonderful stay in Mahone bay.

Mel and Will run a fantastic Bn'B. The house is tucked in between two churched and faces the bay, with plenty of lounging opportunities placed around the property to take advantage of the hosts' complimentary sherry. The house itself feels more like a home, as Max the pup eagerly greets you at the door and the smell of Mel's baking wafts from the kitchen. The rooms are lovely, with grandiose bathrooms and individual keys for privacy. Breakfast had to be the highlight; homemade, delicious and accompanied by fresh orange juice and coffee. The company is superb, Will never afraid of a delightfully provocative joke and Mel right behind him to give an eye roll and further the robust conversation that these two inevitably rouse up. If you hate comfort, despise kindness and are repulsed by mouth-watering food, stay elsewhere.

Room Tip: The 'gull's room' was really nice, bright with a claw-foot bathtub

We arrived on a rainy night, later than scheduled. Our hosts were so welcoming, and assisted us with everything. The rooms are so comfortable and clean, along with the rest of this beautiful home. We had a wonderful visit and a delicious hot breakfast. Thank you Mel and Will!

The Fisherman's Daughter is an excellent B & B and one which we could thoroughly recommend.
It is in a good position - a little bit further off the road. The house is decorated in a very pleasing style. Mel and Wil are delightful hosts. The breakfasts are first class with a choice of three suggestions for the meal.

My partner and I stayed at the Fisherman's Daughter for a week during our first vacation to Nova Scotia. Our experience was amazing! We loved the beautiful room we stayed in (McNab's Garden), so clean, bright and wonderfully decorated, it also offered stunning views of the Bay right outside our window. Melanie and Will (and their dog, Max!) have created a relaxed atmosphere that makes you feel right at home from the very moment you check in. Breakfasts are delicious and very accommodating to any special requests or allergies (not to mention the scrumptious homemade baked goods that Melanie whips up almost daily)! This gorgeous home is full of history and located just around the corner from Mahone Bay's attractions, shops and restaurants. At the same time being privately nestled between two lovely churches provides a calming sense of tranquility. We were able to see lots of the area's hidden gems as the innkeepers were very informative of local sights that tourists may not be aware of. I would recommend this B&B to any couple or family, A+ for the Fisherman's Daughter!

Room Tip: Every room is unique and full of charming decorations and amenities.
